Congratulations, your life was just enriched ten-fold!

Finally, with the grandbabies (5 of them), I found, “the joy of motherhood”.

Being a mother was a damned hard job, I knew everything I said and did would affect my offspring, possibly forever.

With the grandbabies, I can skip doing the dishes and go out and make mud pies! The youngest (5 yo) was over Thursday night and we went out to play in the dirt planting tomatoes and admiring birds.

Last night she and Grandpa sat on the couch while her mother and I got dinner together. They were giggling (yes, crusty old grandpa giggles with her) so we listened to see what they were up to. Near as I could tell, they were passing words back and forth and the other had to make a rhyme. When she’d get stuck, he’d whisper a rhyming word to her, she’d giggle and shout out the rhyme, which made him chuckle. They high-fived and it was his turn. All of which made us laugh.

Sounds crazy, but such a simple thing was amazing. All of the worries of the day melt away and life is good.

Congrats!

Your story made me think of something I heard long ago, when I was too young to understand it.

“Grandchildren are the final installment, the PAID IN FULL, that the good Lord gives you.”

I heard it from a lady who was in her 60’s, at a restaurant I worked at when I was still in high school.

Suddenly...I “get it.” :)

Congratulations on the most magnificent position ever. There is nothing greater or more fun or rewarding. I have seven ages 25 down to 10, including a 17 yo named Evan.

You are in for a treat! I have a 4 year old grandson and 9 month old granddaughter. It is a different ballgame!

Remember when your daughter thought you hung the moon? Grandkids think you hung the sun, moon and stars!

Oh ya! The youngest of my kids is 18, they buy what they need/want when they need/want it. This morning I went to TSC (Tractor Supply Company) and the neatest pair of masculine looking John Deere size 0-6 months socks fell into the cart along with the ear mite meds for the dogs.

I get it. Been there, and really quite enjoyed it. My house my rules. I'm a tough cookie on somethings, but ooohhhh a softie on a lot of things. We have 10, ages 4,6,8,9,10,10,10,11,12,21. Sleepovers are something else. But their birthday treat now is sleeping over by themselves after a movie and dinner out.

I love being grame.

I think the best is hearing my name cried out when I arrive somewhere. The first time was at church and they were already sitting in the front and one of them saw me and shouted ‘GramE’s here’. I've been mush ever since.

My husband was also not to excited but that all changed 2 weeks ago, the second he laid eyes on his grandson.
