“[Bush] had as great a hand in this immigration mess as anyone”

Agreed. I remember when Bush was first in office, it seemed to me that his biggest goal was going to be amnesty and that he cared far more for Mexicans than for Americans.

9/11 changed his plans, obviously.

I think we all need to be very wary of what the (please dear God) lame duck dems will do during their last 2 1/2 months in office.

I am SURE they will try and force Amnesty on us. It would be very difficult, perhaps impossible, to undo that.

He was deported at least twice that we know about.

This is interesting....even some counties in Oregon are getting fed up! Clackamas is one of the more conservative counties.

Clackamas jail pioneers system to identify illegal immigrants
By Rick Bella, The Oregonian
April 06, 2010, 6:54PM

[snip]
Roberts cracked down on illegal immigrants in county custody in 2007 after The Oregonian reported that Alejandro Rivera Gamboa, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was not deported after he was first convicted of drunken driving. Rivera Gamboa later killed 15-year-old Dani Countryman in Milwaukie.

Most of the criminal foreign nationals who have been identified but not yet removed are completing sentences imposed by courts.

ICE also has removed more than 25,000 foreign nationals charged with or convicted of Level 2 and 3 crimes, including burglary and property crimes.

You can find the same news in just about any city in the US any day.

MISSION VIEJO A man in the country illegally has been stalking a middle school girl since January and was arrested by Sheriff’s Department investigators after trying to set up a meeting with the young girl, authorities said.

Jose Manuel Dominguez, a 38-year-old construction worker, was arrested at the Emerald Pointe apartments just after 8 p.m. Monday when he showed up to rendezvous with the girl, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino. An immigration hold was put on Dominguez when he was booked into Orange County jail, Amormino said.[snip]

He’s been deported nine times since 1989. His last four deportations were once in 2002 and three times in 2003.

The gun laws and the Tea Party were obviously *not* involved.

You can’t say the same thing about Bush. He had a very lax attitude towards illegal immigration.

We just catch them in a Hav-a-hart and drop it in a bin full of water. Those squirrel lungs aren’t’ very big; it doesn’t take much time.

But I’m mean enough to watch those little suckers flailing frantically for three or four seconds.

Next time, just use a trap and drown them in the tub. A LOT less damage to the bathroom that way.

Seriously, though - this guy committed multiple felonies. Why was he simply deported rather than jailed? He had already proven that he was a repeat returner!

The whole incident is shameful. Thing is, I don’t think we should pay for incarcerating these felons. Which leaves billing their home country, or having a three strikes = execution policy, or some sort of penal servitude to pay for their upkeep.

The 1996 federal law [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act ( IIRIRA) requires local governments to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Many cities have adopted so-called "sanctuary policies." Are you living in a sanctuary city? http://www.ojjpac.org/sanctuary.asp

>Immigration Hypocrisy: San Francisco Officials Urge AZ Boycott, Ignore Sanctuary City Murder

June 22, 2008: San Francisco resident Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, were murdered on their way home from a family picnic. Edwin Ramos, a 21-year-old illegal alien and a member of MS-13, was the killer. Mrs. Bologna lost her husband and boys because the city of San Francisco's sanctuary policy prevented the earlier deportation of Ramos. Mrs. Bologna lost her lawsuit against the city of San Francisco. Now, the city of San Franciso is leading a boycott against Arizona's refusal to be a "sanctuary state".

When people that want to live in a safe, peaceful environ leave then SF will be nothing but a shell of its once great self.

Pathetic that people keep electing local officials that want to destroy the City.

..........
Yes I live in a Sanc City and it is hell. Illegals think they can do anything and the cops will do nothing.
The cops and citizens are being murdered and the idiot class says nothing.

last night i had a thought after hearing an administrator of ICE say that they would not necessarily process nor receive (iow) any illegals detained by Arizona.

what we have here is a failure of law & order.

the federal govt’s not satisfactorily enforcing illegal immmigration law. ICE now is hinting they may not process arrestees of Arizona’s enforcement. if the fed law wont allow Arizona leo’s to deport & ICE wont deport then the Arizona will have to go pseudo vigilante.

if ICE refuses arrestees from inundated border states that copy Arizona’s new law, then we’re headed for possible civil conflict. ie state’s needs/rights vs federal inaction. with calderone & obama’s statements before congress the present administration has gone domestic enemy. they are subverting the law & state’s rights/safety.

Sounds like you putting the pieces together.

The feds will drag their feet processing the average Illegal picked up during a traffic stop. So what's Az left to do? It can only hold so many, and it's jails are full of Illegals the feds are not reimbursing for now. They'll be forced to OR them, or build Arpio style tent cities, or, deport the Illegals out themselves.

Az unilaterally deporting would be usurping federal jurisdiction, an obvious problem.

I'm afraid the only way the feds will do their jobs is if several other states pass similar legislation.

San Francisco is already a shell. Families with children are rare. The ratio of legal voters to "others" is probably the lowest in any city. The city pays a premium to attract "homeless people" and we've just discussed the sanctuary city issue. So then the Census rolls into town and counts all heads. The net effect is the Calif 8th Congressional District has a very small number of voters. And you were wondering how Pelosi got elected?

When people that want to live in a safe, peaceful environ leave then SF will be nothing but a shell of its once great self.
