Message from Wendy Dio Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

There were none better.
He survived throat cancer a few years back.
My husband watches the “Metal Show” on VH1 with my son. I saw that episode I think, and he didn’t look sick at all.
Amen. He’s a Rainbow in the Dark, and as far as I’m concerned, Dio was a closet Christian. “You got to bleed for the Dancer.”
Oh my. I knew he had cancer but did not know he was in end stage. He will be missed.
Stargazer. When he was with Rainbow. One of my favoritest tunes of them all:
“I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon
And I’m coming home
Coming home, I’m coming home
Time is standing still
He gave me back my will
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Going home
I’m going home
My eyes are bleeding
And my heart is weeping”
This is such sad news.... I love his music!
RIP Ronnie!
This is HEART-breaking news.
I remember an interview he did back in his heyday on MTV where he talked about clean living, and avoiding drugs and alcohol. Asked how he occupied his spare time, he replied, "I watch sports."
The whole "devil horns" and medieval-themed songs were all part of his stage persona, his act and what his fans wanted to hear. Off stage, he was a humble guy who liked sports.
R.I.P. Ronnie.
I got to see Dio in 2003 and 2008, and he was great both times. He was one of the best metal singers.
No and a few weeks ago I heard someone say he was doing well and going to tour. He will be missed.
I didn't either. I almost posted this last night but it then the news quickly took on the appearance of an internet prank so I dismissed it. I had read he had cancer but that he was responding well to treatment. I guess not. Sad news indeed.
RIP, Ronnie, "Man on the Silver Mountain" is stil one of favorite riffs to play on guitar.
RIP Ronnie James Dio.
Holy Diver
RIP Dio
