Tulsa PD officer resigns (allowed to resign to avoid criminal charges)

Monday, Thomas F. Fees resigned from the Tulsa Police Department. Fees’ resignation is a part of a resolution of criminal charges through the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office.

The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Tulsa Police Department at Oscar's Gastro Pub, 1738 S. Boston Avenue on February 7, 2010. Fees was placed on administrative leave immediately following the incident.

The 34-year old began his employment with the city of Tulsa in November 1998. After working for the TIA Security, Fees transitioned to the Tulsa Police Department in June 2001.

Fees resignation is effectively immediately.

I wonder if the Tulsa PD allows common folks to "resign" instead of facing criminal charges of feloniously pointing a firearm and carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol?

Here is the original story detailing the arrest.

Two Comments: First from the article whose link you provided:

The police department says Fees' resignation is part of a resolution of the criminal charges against him.

What are the other parts of this agreement? Do we know for sure he will not face reduced charges?

Second: I normally get a lot of flack for defending cops, but when it comes to cops carrying guns when off duty, they should be subject to very close scrutiny and very little slack.

Another riveting story of police crime. You would think that with about a million or so of them you could do better than this, if they are so corrupt. If the lefties, criminals and (pardon the redundancy) press gloried in every story of licensed fishermen, you’d get the same results.

You’ve gone from being a boor to being a bore. Small bore.

Well if I posted every single one of these stories as they are reported in the media you guys would freak out, cry like two year olds to the moderators that I was being mean to cops... and burn the place down.

OK, insults are OK with me.

I haven’t cried like a two year old since I was two...and I really don’t remember that. Fire away...who gives a shit? It’s just boring as hell. When you start posting something interesting, it will be worth all the time, I think, but shooting fish in a barrel is only fun for sadists and idiots. This whining like a kid about the JBT’s offends a lot of people here, but that doesn’t mean we are stooges, or uninformed. We disagree with you. Adults do that at times. We don ot agree. Big deal.

You get your rocks off on this disagreement.

Take any group that size and you’ll come up with all sorts of stories. Do an expose on Democrat corruption...at least it will be somewhere near the topics of interest for FREE REPUBLIC readers.

Or go post this over at copssuck.com and be with your pals.

Seriously, this is just old and pointless, to cry like a two year old over the injustice in the world. We all know it’s there and it stinks. I don’t think about or worry about LEO’s. And if I need one, I’m glad to see him. I don’t do anything to fear them. Simple.

My Dad, Master Chief Duntno, once said that if you got shit on your mustache, the whole world stinks. He’s right, you know what I mean? Grab a shave man, you can’t be a very happy guy.

Two year olds. Get a grip, cowboy.

Well, thanks, Bob. I’ll remember that. But I did explain TO HIM why I responded. But now that you mention it, this post of yours wasn’t exactly necessary either, was it? See, we all do it, don’t we?

Corruption and criminal behavior on the part of government workers seem to interest a lot of FReepers, judging by the number of views and comments those threads attract. So quit whining.

You didn't explain anything, you said you (and fellow Freepers) are only interested one type of corruption.

Democrat corruption, and you asked me to go find stories about that. Well in my eyes its all government corruption because the police are the truest tool for the enforcement of government corruption regardless of party affiliation.

A point that seems to escape understanding around here.

Let me guess. Another "Isolated incident..."

You skinhead, bloused boot, 'roided thugs are going to have to come up with a different knee jerk dismissal of the truth.

It's pretty much a given, despite the "Oathkeepers" camouflage, that local state and fed LEOs are going to enforce whatever law Obama's overlords are going to dream up, regardless of any ol' Constitution thing, as long as you get to hurt people without fear of reprisal.

Go ahead and suck it up, because you are the ones who are going to be the leading edge of Obama's martial law, in just a few months.

Judging from news accounts, postmen bite dogs more often than dogs bite postmen (I actually did read a news story about the former once).

If policemen are not punished when they commit crimes, they will commit more crimes. If even one policeman is allowed to get away with a serious crime, everyone should be worried, because others are likely to follow. Too much "professional courtesy" will destroy any profession, and I see no reason to expect policing to be any different.

We’re not all blessed with your intellect. Or, maybe we see it a different way. Possible?

I’m gonna guess you think not.

No, not really... most all Statist Conservatives truly feel that hardcore, absolute law and order is the only way. And if, in the process a few innocent people are killed, murdered by the police. And a few more wrongfully jailed and or put to death along the way, that's fine.

Its just the price we pay, in their minds, to "live in a civilized society"...

Sorry about the earlier message; forgot the marks:

What a surprise.

Oh, by the way, I'm not sure where you are headed with your non answers and dithering about "statism, but seriously, you think I am a "statist" now? Because I think that cherry picking crimes committed by a few cops committed in situations that arise form several milions public contacts A DAY, is, as I said, getting old? That makes me a "statist" in your mind? That's pretty funny. I've never been called that before. You really don't know who you're talking to, friend. Really. Do you know what a statist is? I don't know any anarchists PERSONALLY, but I suppose they might consider me a "statist" but then, they think everyone is.

My Department mandates that I carry off-duty. However, in certain circumstances, they say not to.

Going to the gym, going to a sporting event/concert, drinking, going on vacation.

Other than that, they say I gotta have it. And I am mandated to take action in my jurisdiction if I observe a major felony taking place when I'm armed.

So, you might want to take it easy when talking about how much scrutiny you put a sober, off-duty cop under.
