No romaine left in the fridge didn't stop the creation of a household favorite, the super sandwich!
Cilantro?
Soap tastes just as good and has a longer shelf-life.

Ivory Soap, of course. Irish Spring would be too heavy on the palate.
Wow, you must not be a cilantro lover!
We love it. I don’t think it tastes like soap...although I guess it could if you washed it with soap, LOL. :)
Different strokes for different folks....I think the most important thing is inspiring kids to be creative and think outside the box. Right?
I keep a little cilantro in my shower for after mowing cleanup.
I have cilantro in the garden right now.
Well, I’m a fan of Dove Soap myself, but the thing is, if you think cilantro tastes like soap, you obviously wouldn’t want to use it on a sandwich.
However, there are a bunch of cilantro lovers out there that would disagree with you on your opinion. It’s funny, too, how much my 4 y.o. son sometimes claims he doesn’t like something, until he’s tried it. 9 times out of 10, he loves the very food he claims he doesn’t like. Funny! :)
Hope you’re having a great Friday!
Awesome! I’m so happy the cilantro is doing well in our victory garden, because we use a lot of it, and I’m tired of buying it at the grocery store. LOL. :)
Do you have any secrets for growing it successfully? I’ve been trying for several years, and this is the first time I’ve had any survive at all. It’s too small to harvest, yet, but it’s also too early for good eggplants, so I’m not making baba-ganous all the time!
I have an incredible parsley crop, but cilantro has been much harder.

Cilantro Haters, Its Not Your Fault
I think cilantro is one of those that one either loves or hates and cooks need to realize a little goes a LONG way. It is potent.
I am allergic to it. I had no problem until I ate a bowl of soup that was very heavy on the stuff, which BTW that soup did taste like soap. I got the worst headache and had the sensation that my nose and throat were closing up. I took some Benadryl and it relieved the symptoms except that I could not get the smell out of my head for days. Now a little bit and I get the same reaction, so I avoid it and foods that it might be in. Sad thing is that being the “gourmet herb du jour” it is all sorts of things. I sub parsley when making something at home that calls for it.
Like raw papaya, a little bit of cilantro goes a long way.
It's not an opinion. It's genetics. A recessive gene causes a small amount of the general population to perceive the taste of cilantro as "soapy". It is no more opinion than blue eyes or a widow's peak. As a food service professional, it's something I'm very aware of.

I don't want to make you jealous (much), but we have volunteer cilantro growing around here. We don't cultivate it at all. But we do use the heck out of it. ;)

I thought it was just me. I’ve had garden fresh salsa that tasted like a soapdish.

I understand it is perfect for the occasional loofah of any stretchmarks...especially after a day at the Yacht Club...
"It was... cilantro poisoning!"
Relax...just a little fun...
