All it took was three little letters: L-O-S. With that change to the front of their jerseys during the NBA playoffs this week, the Phoenix Suns became "Los Suns" and Arizona's basketball franchise let the world know where it stands on its state's controversial immigration law.
The law -- Arizona Senate Bill 1070 -- requires law enforcement in the state with a "reasonable suspicion" to question and arrest anyone who can't immediately prove they're in the country legally.

They should not have been alowed to play out of uniform and forfeit the game. This’ll cost them some fans...
Is it me or does the fact that Mexicans don’t give a sh*t about basketball not change any of the soap opera that is Los Suns? Really, how many Mexicans play in the NBA? How many actually buy tickets and watch the games? The Suns owner can do anything he wants with his team, but does he actually have any data that show Mexicans want to spend their “lawn mowing money” on the NBA?
Hey, what can the D-Backs change their jerseys to?
This is why I don’t subscribe to SI any more.
Las Culebras? (The Snakes).
Sports Illustrated wrote this? Good golly, suicide...
If the writer did not have the last name of Segura I doubt she would care about the law.
Las Viboras.
Melissa, I can only infer from this sentence that you are either woefully ignorant and misinformed, OR you are a LIAR.
Oh, I’m sure like other journalists, any number of guilty white folk at SI could have written this story.
I’ve long since boycotted sports, sports illustrated, sports talk radio. So, I’ve taken action long ago.
Sports are crooked, occupied by moral hazards, politically correct, and the athletes are either not paid at all, or paid millions without any requirement to actually play or win. I’m not going to support that kind of nonsense. Life’s too short, I’ll just play more golf....
Why didn't they tell the world how they felt about the federal immigration law years ago?
IT'S THE SAME LAW!
Let's see, do ya think MLB would rather have its stadiums filled with illegal immigrants or American Citizens?
Why not Los Soles?
Because people would walk out on them!!
HAR!! I crack me up.
Most fans,legal or illegal,can’t afford tickets.Besides,
Selig only cares about one color-green!
Just about word-for-word of what I emailed to her a few minutes ago (although I told her that it was “painfully obvious she had not read the law in question”).
We can’t let these misrepresentations stand.
Exactly, so why piss off those with the most green.
Best to come out and say MLB is an apolitical organization.
“Hey, what can the D-Backs change their jerseys to?
Dos Backes? (Rhymes with Dos Equis).
Perhaps Bud Selig is not the complete asshat I assumed he would be on this issue. He is still The Devil however.
