Sir Elton John lost sight of his British etiquette when he snubbed former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin at the TIME 100 gala Wednesday night.
"It's nice to be at an event where you meet some unusual people, like Sarah Palin," said the Brit, immediately following his remark with an eyebrow raise.
When asked who he wanted to meet most at the gala, Elton followed with another jab saying, "Not Sarah Palin but anybody else would be fine."
Fellow TIME 100 honorees included actor Neil Patrick Harris, Taylor Swift, Ben Stiller and Ashton Kutcher.
"I can't even get my dogs to listen to me, so I don’t know how influential I really am," said Kutcher, with wife Demi Moore on his arm. "This is one of those lists that you can't even imagine being on. I mean, I've been on the Razzies like three times so I'm getting used to that. This one, I don’t know if I'm going to get used to."
Comedian Andy Sandberg also made the annual list and had the special honor of being the gala's emcee.
"I'm more curious than nervous. This is certainly a new type of room for me to play," Sandberg told reporters before the ceremony began. But once behind the podium, Sandberg looked completely at ease as he called the TIME 100 list the "nerd's choice awards" and received roars from the audience.

Actually, Elton John recognized Sarah Palin, not once, but twice, unprovoked. This isn’t ignoring some one, or even snubbing them.
So Bennie was cooling his Jets elsewhere. Who cares?
Elton John is accusing someone of being “unusual?” The man is strange.
She, on the other hand, would have treated him warmly and graciously, like an old friend.
See .. this is how everyone gets corrupted. Why on EARTH would Sarah Palin go to ANYTHING hosted by TIME Magazine? This is how it starts... I think her fame has totally gotten the better of her. That’s how I feel.

Having had Palin as my governor, and having met her in person, I can tell you honestly that Elton queer-john is definately the unusual one.

Elton is simply barney with talent. I would not worry about it, but it is certainly a character revelation.
