Put blame on owner, not the dog
toledoblade ^ | May 01, 2010 | Anne Boyle

Dogs described as "pit bulls" attacked two people recently, one an 11-year-old girl ("Passer-by helps teen attacked by dog in Toledo," April 16; "•'Pit bull' shot after attacking girl, officer," April 19). Not to diminish the seriousness of these attacks, but blame the owners.

The only dog that ever bit me was our Irish Setter when I was a child...Beautiful dog, dumb as a box of rocks...hard headed, stubborn and much patients needed with that breed..but beautiful to watch in the field..

That is -wrong- on *so* many levels.

Love these threads,
gives the .5%ers, the DOPers,
the slightly inebriated, the rabid haters,
the hysterics and the penis-fixated,
a place to showcase their neuroses.

Came home just now from work, dog-tired, and read Dark’s page.

I have concluded that he is probably a wave phenomenon, only occasionally fully materialized on Planet Earth.

Yes. I stole that idea.

(But the guy who had it originally, died three years ago, morose and sotted, probably not due in small part to once having been, for a short time, Geraldo Rivera’s Father-in-Law.)

~~Welcome To *MY* Nightmare~~

I told my wife about your post.

She said Rocky was the best dog that ever was...he and Odin.

Her and Rocky in 2002.

They’re ~both~ very beautiful and I understand exactly how she feels.

When the Wonder Dobe [aka Tito] left me in 1984, [via veterinary malpractice] I died inside.
[and just to hammer home my loss for the rest of my life, he died on my birthday]

I threw myself into Dobermann rescue to somehow “make up for it”, psychologically but as wonderful as they all were, they just weren’t *him*.

It took me 25 years to track down bloodlines as close to his as humanly possible and I’m hoping Odin will fill the empty, infinitely awesome paw prints Tito left on my heart.

So far, he’s got the same temperament, same one-woman devotion and warped sense of humor Tito had.
He’s smart as hell but just like Tito, he’s too smart for his own good.

He learns things insanely fast *but* has the same ‘bad habit’ [due to a very sharp mind] Tito did...he “anticipates” commands and does what I was ~about~ to ask him to *before* I even get the whole word out of my mouth.

He learned to sit/down/give paw, all in less than 10 minutes...however, when I started the “gimme other paw” stuff, he was *so* intent on pleasing me, he would, in rapid succession, give me one paw, then the other, then *both*, just in case I ‘changed my mind suddenly’, I guess...:))

He gives paw to other people when I allow them to ask for it, with the caveat that he is *so* determined to do his absolute, utter best, it’s like getting fist-bumped by Mike Tyson.

[he must think sheer enthusiasm and force equals best performance..and he has no concept of how strong he is compared to humans]

But, he’s just a baby, still learning and developing, in spite of his deceptive size.

[as you can no doubt tell, I already love him *way* too much]...:)

Well.. *cough* ...The Undead Thread tends to get stumbled upon, and we never now who would like being pinged to such madness and who’d take out a restraining order and send heavily armed robo-ninja after us.

That theory has been discussed in part on the Undead Thread oddly enough.

Which part?

The part about you being a wave phenomenon (chrono synclastic infundibulum)?

Or the part about briefly being Geraldo Rivera's Father-in-Law making a person morose and drunk?

Wave phenomena.
I appear randomly, which itself makes some people turn to drink, much like Harvey the giant rabbit.

"Okay...now I’m sure of it.

You are One Of Us."

You've been tapped, Darksheare.

So, I reckon all that's left now is the blood oath, right Salamander?

Oh yeah, and the goat, I always forget about the goat thing. We'll 'splain it later. ;-)

The “blood and goat” bits of The Oath have been replaced by flinging ketchup and kicking a Care Bear.

[didn’t you get the memo?]

Coffee.

That reminds me.

I'm very, very, very very, quite very upset.

EVERY TIME I find a product I really really really like, it disappears from the stores!

The latest is Caribou Coffee Iced Coffee with Espresso in the aluminum bottle/can thingy.

Without a doubt the best tasting, not bitter but not sweet coffee drink EVER! A Coke product I'm told. Wrote to the corporate via e-mail .....NOTHING.

Wrote to the distributor .....NOTHING!

Wrote to three stores ..... they can't get it anymore!

So I've been drinking these Rockstar Roasted Mocha thingys that are too sweet and now even those are vanishing from the shelves!

There is a war on good taste and good tasting products!

I'm going back to Tralfamadore.
