Its no secret that we, here, at DefenseReview are VERY BIG Glock pistol proponents. For us, when it comes to pistols, its pretty much either Glock (9mm Parabellum a.k.a. 9×19mm NATO) or 1911 (9mm, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP) pistols when it comes to carry and competition applications. In fact, for tactical use, our first choice is a Glock 19 (G19), Glock 17 (G17), or Glock 34 (G34), depending on the mission-specific requirements/parameters, and our second choice is a custom single-stack or double-stack/hi-cap 1911 pistol built by pistolsmith Bob Marvel of Bob Marvel Guns (BMG) / Marvel Custom Pistols (MCP) (We should note that we also like the HK P7M13 and P7M8 squeeze-cocker pistols with quality jacketed factory ammo (115gr or higher), but the P7M13 is relatively heavy compared to the G19, and it gets hot pretty quickly under rapid fire at fairly low round count.).
So, being the Glock fans we are, we really enjoyed getting to view and handle Lone Wolfs new aftermarket 1911-style polymer grip frame for the Glock 17/22 (G17/22) pistolswhich can also be applied to the Glock 24 (G24) and Glock 34/35 (G34/35) pistolsat the tail end of SHOT Show 2010. It features a 1911-style and angled grip, extended beavertail tang, removable/replaceable/modular backstrap for different hand shapes and sizes, and Mil-Std-1913 dust cover rail system for mounting tactical white light and laser modules. The beavertail assists with recoil management/muzzle rise reduction and eliminates slide bite for people who utilize a high griplike myself, for instance. I get bitten by the (Glock) slide all the time.
Anyway, the product looked and felt great in the hand. Its a particularly great idea for 1911 owners/shooters who want grip angle consistency between their 1911s and Glocks,

Makes a great fishing weight!
I didn’t like the older ones, but I got my hands on a Gen 4 at my favorite gun shop. Sweet! Even the trigger pull [which I HATED] is nice.
Now the probvlem is choosing between the 9mm. and the S&W 40. Since I’m trying to limit my ammo types to .357 and .38 special for the revolvers, and .45 ACP and 9mm. for the pistols [availability of ammo], I’m leaning toward the 9mm.
For the gamester who wants to shave a couple of seconds off their score.
But there's no point in making the effort since the M&P came along.
Less Money and more reliable
Tony - you beat me to it with your S&W M&P 9mm, only mine is a compact with a rail-mounted laser. Not a Glock fan, but acknowledge that they are proven great weapons. With +P JHP’s, she’ll hit like a 1911.
Of course, I love my 1911 just as much...with +P JHP’s as well.
rahanes in the woods of Virginia
A plastic 1911?
JMB is rolling over in his grave.
As much as I dislike tupperware guns, there is something I really like about the S&W M&P.
dang its early yet, as i scrolled the pic i thought that the pistol had a lil blue bayonet...more coffee...
I've never had such horrible misfortune wished upon me, especially from a fellow gun loving FReeper! Shame! lol
Anyone with an iota of taste is rolling over in their graves or barfing up their cornflakes...
It would be uglier and less balanced if it were a Highpoint.
So they FINALLY released the Polymer Grip Frame? Bout time.. lol
I have the Lone Wolf slides in both 9mm (for my 17) and 40 for my glock 22.
Right now I am not using them however I do put them on from time to time. I have been waiting for the frame so I can build a few custom “glocks”
Would not carry them for self defense, but they will be fun range guns.. for carry I keep my glocks stock.
I have a 9MM with ten round mags. Nice weapon for dropping back into sight picture after each shot. Very accurate inside 25 yards and after the first fifty rounds has become absolutely reliable. Also have a 995 carbine in 9MM and the newer 995TS. Great home defense carbines with extra mags. Shoot Hi Shoks all day long without a glitch ... did I mention the warranty and affordability?
BTW, Hi-Point has a butt sock that holds two extra mags for the 995 carbine. Any rifle butt sock for a lever carbine will work on the 995TS to hole extra mags against the stock.
Ha! My neighbor bought one of those for his XD .45.
Military considered replacing the beretta with it. I’m glad they didn’t tho, the take down procedure on the m&p is not cool.
