Netflix Instant heads up: '24'
Netflix | 4/25/2010 | DGHoodini

May or may not be news to Netflix subscribers, but I just noticed that they've added the first 7 seasons of '24', to their 'Watch Instantly' lineup. That's good news to *me* at least. ;o)

Netflick is the best $10 I spend a month. We only get one movie at a time at home but that is balanced by the unlimited online movies we can watch. I have a big HD monitor and the for newer movies it is great.

Thanks for the post! I have never seen a single episode of “24”. By the time I heard about how great this show was, I figured it was too involved for me to get in to. It was in it’s 2nd or 3rd season by that time.

Gotta go with you on that one! Got DirecTV, with their multiplicity of channels, but this weekend has been particularly un-noteworthy for viewing, beyond keeping up with the news....I’ve spent most of my “TV” time this weekend watching movies and shows on Netflix...Bones, Inspector Allen, a couple of Sayers mysteries...Even re watched ST: the Journey Home, for a break from the BritMysteries. And then there was the DVD.

Sure does blow away the TV inter-season blues, don’t it? ;)

The best way to watch 24 is to start with Season One.

Set aside a full, leisurely day to to experience the entire 24 episodes one after the other.

Really good.

The last few seasons are crap, in my opinion.

Hope you enjoy!

Netflick has allowed me to discover a lot of small films I would never have bought or rented. Since there is no extra charge and no limit I will go ahead and start a film just to see if I will like it. If it is a stinker (and there are some) I just return to main menu and look for another.

Does anyone know if Netflix has changed their pricing? My daughter and I are thinking seriously of getting it so we can stream movies. When I go to their website it advertises a month’s free trial and a price of $8.99/mo. I thought when I went to their site a while ago there was a tiered pricing system that started at $8.99 for limited and went up to about $16/mo unlimited.

The season where his daughter gets kidnapped is pretty bad. She acted so stupidly I could hardly stand it. I don’t recall what season that was. But the redeeming feature in that one was Nina - she was a great villianness.

Seasons 4-5 were my two favorites. Lots in interesting twists and turns in those.

You will not be disappointed if you watch. Start from the beginning. I recently gave some friends of mine the first seven seasons on DVD to get them caught up. They’d never watched before but enjoyed the previews for this season. I told them they had to start from the beginning.

That’s been their price structure AFAIK, since they started doing the streaming. But the thing is, with their new distribution centers, I get two DVDs a week, if I watch and return the next day. And while they obviously don’t have all their movies availiable for streaming, I was quite surprised to find when I signed up, how large a selection they *do* have for their ‘Watch Instantly’ subset. No, you won’t find brand new rreleases in the ‘Instant’, but in my first few weeks I found enough content that I figured would last me through the winter snows, and here we are in late April. and my Instant ‘Queue’, is still quite full of shows I have yet to watch. ( over 50) and many of thise are seasons and series.

I have no reason to Jones for content, other than shows I am particularly waiting for. Netflix at the $9 a month, means there’s always a pre selected list of my favorites ready to watch, without even a trip to the mailbox.

Sure there are a lot of movies not yet available for Instant, but there’s enough that is, that I don’t miss waiting for the “next DVD”.

Maybe if you are jonesing for all “new releases”, so 1 at a time DVDs aren’t enough for you, but I like the older content in most cases, so waiting doesn’t bother me.

I think they change their pricing plans frequently. Occasionally a plan for $4.99 a month shows up with very limited mail rentals but it gives full access to their watch instantly movies.

I love my Roku and Netflix. Have been hooked up about 3 weeks now.

I’ve watched more ‘different’ stuff in the last 3 weeks than I’ve seen on extended cable in years.

Cable has 70 channels and most show the same two-dozen or so movies over and over. I don’t think a week has gone by in the last 3 or 4 years that Independence Day and Men in Black and Stegall haven’t been shown on one of the cable channels.

Netflix is the best $15/month I have invested for TV viewing.

I watch very little network TV anymore. With Turner Movie classics I can record old movies I want to keep. With Netflick I can see the newest movies.

My only complaint about netflick is not all there movies are available for instant viewing. But then if they were I wonder if I would get anything else done. So many it is a good thing I have to wait on some... ;-)

I’m in the middle of Season 1 of Rome on DVD and Spartacus on streaming.

Too many streams and DVDs, so little time.

I have Deadwood DVDs scheduled for later.

Count me in as a fan of Netflix too! We’ve only had it for about a month, but I’m blown away by all the choices....and their shipping is next day. It’s unreal and a real pleasure!

The 8.99 per month is one DVD at a time and unlimited streaming.

The 13.99 per month is two DVDs at a time and unlimited streaming.

They do have some other rates, but you have to search under the FAQ section to find the info.

You can change at any time (to start the next month).

I currently am doing the 2 DVDs. If the supply of interest runs out, I’ll switch to 1-DVD, but I already have about 70 titles in my cache and I watch 10 DVDs per month, I’m good for a few months. lol

I've subscribed to the 1 dvd plan only to get the "instant streaming."

Only problem with that is if you experience any technical problems there is virtually no help for the "instant" ... they consider that a free bonus.
