My Niece is Driving Me Crazy HELP!!!
facebook email | april 24, 2010 | MsLady

Posted on 04/24/2010 4:27:14 PM PDT by MsLady

Ok, this woman is driving me crazy. I can't take it anymore...lol So, do I just stop the communication, this is becoming exhausting right now to me. But, I feel I need to answer this. We have been going back and forth on health care bill and Obama's over spending, the lefts attempt to shut up the tea party. You get the idea. Here's her last email to me.

The one gov. program I have personally seen work better and more efficiently (since Obama got in) Is the VA. Since I've know Mike(is a vet on disability) I've seen him have to jump through hoops to get seen, not to mention the mess of paperwork--not to mention 3 yrs ago they sent a letter saying that some computers were stolen and "files" were missing (something smells funny to me...) and could he please "re-submit" information, needless to say his bennies were screwed up for a few months. Michaels meds come in the mail, well before he is out, and he has mentioned (jokingly) that all he has to do is feign an illness and he could get whatever med he wanted. So I believe gov. health care can work--I've seen it turn around in the VA--perhaps the problem is that medicaid, medicare and the VA are all seperate entities doing their own thing.

As for gov. funded abortions, That isn't happening. (not to mention I don't believe anyone is going to be careless about getting pregnant cuz they have gov. healthcare --kinda like saying I'll eat as much cotton candy as I want, I can always have a root canal or triple bypass later) However insurance funded abortions are a real thing. The premiums I pay to United Health Care are going to cover some womans abortion (they would rather her have an abortion cuz it's cheaper for them then having her carry full term, not to mention delivery, pre natal care, etc...) Kinda like how 1 trillion of our tax dollars go to military spending (mostly mercenarys or contractors) I don't like the idea of my money being used to pay the $950 a day salary of a Blackwater mercenary who is killing Iraqi civilians....BTW how come I don't hear the tea party mention that? That's a pretty big waste of money. We spend more on defense then the next big 15 superpowers combined--Are we really more safer?

Amen! Seen your property tax bill lately?

Yes I have. It sure would be nice to have the average per student allotment to use in our homeschooling family.

We could buy some REALLY nice supplies!

From antimullah:

**********************************************************

John G. Is 63 years old and owns a small business. He’s a life-long Republican and sees his dream of retiring next year has all but evaporated. With the stock market crashing and new taxes coming his way, John assumes now that he will work to his dying day.

John has a granddaughter.. Ashley is a recent college grad. She drives a flashy hybrid car, wears all the latest fashions, and loves to go out to nightclubs and restaurants. Ashley campaigned hard for Barack Obama. After the election she made sure her grandfather (and all other Republican family members) received a big I told-you-so earful on how the world is going to be a much better place now that her party is taking over.

Having lost both roommates, Ashley recently ran short of cash and cannot pay the rent (again) on her 3 bedroom townhouse.. Like she has done many times in the past, she e-mailed her grandfather asking for some financial help.

Here is his reply:

Sweetheart, I received your request for assistance.

Ashley, you know I love you dearly and I ‘m sympathetic to your financial plight. Unfortunately, times have changed. With the election of President Obama, your grandmother and I have had to set forth a bold new economic plan of our own...”The Ashley Economic Empowerment Plan.” Let me explain.

Your grandmother and I are life-long, wage-earning tax payers. We have lived a comfortable life, as you know, but we have never had the fancier things like European vacations, luxury cars, etc.. We have worked hard and were looking forward to retiring soon. But the plan has changed. Your president is raising our personal and business taxes significantly. He says it is so he can give our hard earned money to other people. Do you know what this means, Ashley? It means less for us, and we must cut back on many business and personal expenses.

You know the wonderful receptionist who worked in my office for more than 23 years? The one who always gave you candy when you came over to visit? I had to let her go last week. I can’t afford to pay her salary and all of the government mandated taxes that go with having employees. Your grandmother will now work 4 days a week to answer phones, take orders and handle the books. We will be closed on Fridays and will lose even more income to the Wal-Mart.

I’m also very sorry to report that your cousin Frank will no longer be working summers in the warehouse. I called him at school this morning.. He already knows about it and he’s upset because he will have to give up skydiving and his yearly trip to Greenland to survey the polar bears.

That’s just the business side of things. Some personal economic effects of Obama’s new taxation policies include none other than you You know very well that over the years your grandmother and I have given you thousands of dollars in cash, tuition assistance, food, housing, clothing, gifts, etc.., etc. But by your vote, you have chosen to help others — not at your expense — but at our expense.

If you need money now sweetheart, I recommend you call 202-456-1111. That is the direct phone number for the White House.. You can also contact the White House here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/CONTACT/ .

You yourself told me how foolish it is to vote Republican. You said Mr Obama is going to be the People’s President, and is going to help every American live a better life. Based on everything you’ve told me, along with all the promises we heard during the campaign, I’m sure Mr. Obama will be happy to transfer some stimulus money into your bank account. Have him call me for the account number which I memorized years ago..

Perhaps you can now understand what I’ve been saying all my life: those who vote for a president should consider the impact on the nation as a whole, and not be just concerned with what they can get for themselves. What Obama supporters don’t seem to realize is all of the money he is redistributing to illegal aliens and non-taxpaying Americans (the so-called “less fortunate”) comes from tax-paying families.

Remember how you told me, “Only the richest of the rich will be affected”? Well guess what, honey? Because we own a business, your grandmother and I are now considered to be the richest of the rich. On paper, it might look that way, but in the real world, we are far from it.

As you said while campaigning for Obama, some people will have to carry more of the burden so all of America can prosper.. You understand what that means, right? It means that raising taxes on productive people results in them having less money; less money for everything, including granddaughters.

I’m sorry, Ashley, but the well has run dry.. The free lunches are over.. I have no money to give you now. So, congratulations on your choice for “change.” For future reference, I encourage you to try and add up the total value of the gifts and cash you have received from us, just since you went off to college, and compare it to what you expect to get from Mr. Obama over the next 4 (or 8) years. I have not kept track of it, Ashley. It has all truly been the gift of our hearts.

Remember, we love you dearly....but from now on you’ll need to call the number mentioned above. Your “Savior” has the money we would have given to you. Just try and get it from him.

Good luck, sweetheart.
Love, Grandpa

I was sent this e-mail just the other day. Hope it helps.

I was in my neighborhood restaurant this morning and was seated behind a group of jubilant individuals celebrating the successful passing of the recent health care bill. I could not finish my breakfast. This is what ensued:

They were a diverse group of several races and both sexes. I heard the young man exclaim, "Isn't Obama like Jesus Christ? I mean, after all, he is healing the sick." The young woman enthusiastically proclaimed, "Yeah, and he does it for free. I cannot believe anyone would think that a free market would work for health care. They are all crooks and thieves and don't deserve all of that money." Another said, 'The stupid Republicans want us all to starve to death so they can inherit all of the power. Obama should be made a Saint for what he did for those of us less fortunate."

At this, I had had enough.

I arose from my seat, mustering all the restraint I could find, and approached their table. "Please excuse me; may I impose upon you for one moment?" They smiled and welcomed me to the conversation. I stood at the end of their table, smiled as best I could and began an experiment.

"I would like to give one of you my house. It will cost you no money and I will pay all of the expenses and taxes for as long as you live there. Anyone interested?"

They looked at each other in astonishment. "Why would you do something like that?", asked a young man, "There isn't anything for free in this world." They began to laugh at me, as they did not realize this man had just made my point. "I am serious, I will give you my house for free, no money what so ever. Anyone interested?" In unison, a resounding "Hell Yeah" fills the room.

"Since there are too many of you, I will have to make a choice as to who receives this money free bargain."

I noticed an elderly couple was paying attention to the spectacle unfolding before their eyes, the old man shaking his head in apparent disgust.

"I tell you what; I will give it to the one of you most willing to obey my rules." Again, they looked at one another, an expression of bewilderment on their faces. The perky young woman asked, "What are the rules?" I smiled and said, "I don't know. I have not yet defined them. However, it is a free home that I offer you." They giggled amongst themselves, the youngest of which said, "What an old coot. He must be crazy to give away his home. Go take your meds, old man." I smiled and leaned into the table a bit further. "I am serious, this is a legitimate offer." They gaped at me for a moment.

"Hell, I'll take it you old fool. Where are the keys?" boasted the youngest among them. "Then I presume you accept ALL of my terms then?" I asked. The elderly couple seemed amused and entertained as they watched from the privacy of their table. "Oh hell yeah! Where do I sign up?"

I took a napkin and wrote, "I give this man my home, without the burden of financial obligation, so long as he accepts and abides by the terms that I shall set forth upon consummation of this transaction." I signed it and handed it to the young man who eagerly scratched out his signature. "Where are the keys to my new house?" he asked in a mocking tone of voice. All eyes were upon us as I stepped back from the table, pulling the keys from pocket and dangling them before the excited new homeowner.

"Now that we have entered into this binding contract, witnessed by all of your friends, I have decided upon the conditions you are obligated to adhere from this point forward. You may only live in the house for one hour a day. You will not use anything inside of the home. You will obey me without question or resistance. I expect complete loyalty and admiration for this gift I bestow upon you. You will accept my commands and wishes with enthusiasm, no matter the nature. Your morals and principles shall be as mine. You will vote as I do, think as I do and do it with blind faith. These are my terms. Here are your keys." I reached the keys forward and the young man looked at me dumb founded.

"Are you out of your freaking mind? Who would ever agree to those ridiculous terms?" the young man appeared irritated. "You did when you signed this contract before reading it, understanding it and with the full knowledge that I would provide my conditions only after you committed to the agreement." Was all I said.

The elderly man chuckled as his wife tried to restrain him. I was looking at a now silenced and bewildered group of people. "You can shove that stupid deal up you're a** old man, I want no part of it" exclaimed the now infuriated young man. "You have committed to the contract, as witnessed by all of your friends; you cannot get out of the deal unless I agree to it. I do not intend to let you free now that I have you ensnared. I am the power you agreed to. I am the one you blindly and without thought chose to enslave yourself to. In short, I am your Master."

At this, the table of celebrating individuals became a unified group against the unfairness of the deal. After a few moments of unrepeatable comments and slurs, I revealed my true intent. "What I did to you is what this administration and congress did to you with the health care legislation. I easily suckered you in and then revealed the real cost of the bargain. Your folly was in the belief that you can have something you did not earn; that you are entitled to that which you did not earn; that you willingly allowed someone else to think for you. Your failure to research, study and inform yourself permitted reason to escape you. You have entered into a trap from which you cannot flee. Your only chance of freedom is if your new Master gives it unto you. A freedom that is given can also be taken away; therefore, it is not freedom." With that, I tore up the napkin and placed it before the astonished young man. "This is the nature of your new health care legislation."

I turned away to leave these few in thought and contemplation and was surprised by applause. The elderly gentleman, who was clearly entertained, shook my hand enthusiastically and said, "Thank you Sir, these kids don't understand Liberty these days." He refused to allow me to pay my bill as he said, "You earned this one, it is an honor to pickup the tab." I shook his hand in thanks, leaving the restaurant somewhat humbled, and sensing a glimmer of hope for my beloved country.

Use reason, it is the closest you are going to get to Godly conduct.

She thinks nothing of spreading the wealth, thinks it’s a great idea, probably because she’s not paying for it.

Exactly. She thinks nothing about spreading the wealth because she's running out of YOUR money and needs more. Hard saying without knowing the circumstances, but they probably paid for their house from money received from her husband's disability. You need to keep this in perspective. She may be family but she's living off your dime. You are going off to work to support her while she stays home and watches Oprah, all the while complaining she needs more assistance.

Hate to say it but she's a communist. That's what I tell my brother. He may not like hearing it but I think it's important to tell it like it is and let the chips fall. I no longer believe I need to surround myself with people who I believe have fundamental flaws in their work ethics. It is time we get involved to take this country back. I hope that it wakes some of the people up.

I don’t mean he can have no impact, I just mean that he isn’t running the place. He has some impact on the biggest of the picture, i.e. the Budget for the country, but not too much. He hasn’t taken a big interest in it either. He’s too busy running us into the ground in other areas too.

I have four grown children and five grandchildren. My kids are Conservatives and my grandchildren go to Catholic schools where they sing patriotic songs and cover their hearts with their hands every morning when they say the Pledge. I stress to them that which matters:
1.Core values and principles.
2.Having a moral code by which to live your life, reading and learning about the Constitution and the founding fathers.
3.Appreciating American’s exceptionalism and greatness.
We cannot leave this kind of teaching to others. We have to do it ourselves in our families and begin at an early age.
Out public elementary and high schools, Universities..are mostly infested with Lib educators who will try to destroy our young people’s minds with leftist garbage.
We cannot keep our children and grandchildren insulated from these forces but we can counter the insurgents...and keep our children close. We are role models for them in how we live our lives.
Your niece(who I agree is a goner) is typical of alot of up and coming “free thinkers’ that I know, mostly children of my friends who have been left to “make their own decisions” about the country and politics.
“I want them to hear both sides”..Hurl alert!
I have(had?)a friend whose son travels around the world apologizing for American’s “rich” people and trying to raise monies for an organization called Globe Med. He wants to start wearing robes!
I suggested that he stop dissing the country which gave him everything, go get a real job, and never again dare to ask me for money for his stupid, anti American causes. Then I told him that in fact, HE was a fraud.
His mother hasn’t called me in months. Oh well...

Judging from here email, you must be a monkey’s uncle. Since it is not legal to leave money to animals (Yes, you can leave money in a trust for the care of an animal, but that is not money left to an animal), I would suggest you make certain she is not mentioned in your will except leaving money to a trust for her care.

That’s what a doctor here said. He was at our last Tea Party and he said he read it and it was confusing and much of it didn’t even make any sense. Like they purposely wrote it that way.

That’s what I’ve been hoping but, this has been going on for awhile. I think something at some point will sink in, but, like I said I’m about at the end of it and getting very frustrated. Last thing I want to do is show anger with her. That never goes anywhere but the wrong direction.

Having had a root canal, it's definitely preferable to this discussion with your niece. I feel for you. I have liberal in-laws coming to visit in a few weeks.

In case your niece cares, having the option for government funded abortions will most certainly cause women (not to mention men -- obviously one of her favorite phrases) less careful regarding pregnancy. A better analogy than the ones she provided would be for women who eat whatever they want and then go vomit it out later. It's not like bulimia is common among young women, right?

My sister is fooled by Bam. She’s sweet, loving and naive. We talk politics. But with no anger. She agrees with clearing out congress and starting over, she thinks they’re all crooks and not following the Constitution. But she bought into Bams fairytale. I’ll talk to her again and try to bring her around. She said last time “You’re a Republican, aren’t you.” I said “Heavens NO! I’m a conservative”. She simply said “Oh.” :-)

Btw, who knows. Something that you may say might be an epiphany for her. I still think the best thing is to gently get her to prove/defend what she believes. Honest research has unlocked many a closed mind that hears only sound bytes.
