If the past is a guide to the present, North Korea will be distributing their own copies of this thing in Asia before the Washington product gets there and no one in Asia will be able to tell the difference. The Treasury claims they can identify the NK counterfeits but no one else can. That makes the fakes good money in SEA but the government banks won’t accept USD $100 bills. The gold shops do, though.

I've yet to hear of the destination of hundreds of thousands of thousand dollar bills and larger demoninations that were printed in the late 1920's and early 1930's.
It's on the treasury dept. website, the only time they printed so many was during that 5-7 years period.

It looks like a euro. They’re turning the dollar into the euro with less value

US use polymer currency yet? or is it still paper.Paper as far as I know. THE CANADIANS are slated to change over soon - as well as debasing the coinage like our Treasury wants to do. Dunno how much of a counterfeiting the Canadians have.

What would be convenient, valuable enough and usable in a vending machine, to be able carry say, $500 in your wallet?

I don’t think $1s are counterfeited.

Making it harder to counterfeit doesn’t stop them from printing more and debasing it.

Copper, nickel, silver and gold used to work - but that's when a dollar was worth more than an infinitesimal slice of the more precious metals . . .
I assume this is what you were getting at. :)

The only way to tell was to look at the strip in the paper and you could clearly see it was a five spot. The face of Lincoln might give it away too.

It's part of an effort to stay ahead of counterfeitersIf only they could stay ahead of the Federal Reserve itself.

The face of Lincoln might give it away too. The face of Lincoln was bleached away - with the rest of the $5 markings..
