The U.S. Justice Department has abruptly abandoned what had become a high-profile court fight to read Yahoo users' e-mail messages without obtaining a search warrant first.

In a two-page brief filed Friday, the Obama administration withdrew its request for warrantless access to the complete contents of the Yahoo Mail accounts under investigation. CNET was the first to report on the Denver case in an article on Tuesday.

This is coming. They know some people say more in emails than on blogs. Before long they’ll say the Patriot Act already covers this if they “have reason to believe” you’re involved in some kind of terrorist activity. And they’re now using the catch all phrase “domestic terrorism” to describe that “activity”. They’re setting it up to come after anyone who speaks against this government. Get ready!

Yep, there are several options. Cross platform (Python) Mahogany supports PGP, is free, is open source and a reliable app. On Linux most OS mail clients support PGP, security is a bigger problem in Europe. see: http://www.linuxlinks.com go to software hotlink.
