Yes, they are not what they used to be. I grew up in that neighborhood but we moved in 1970. Mostly Puerto Ricans running the deli counter now.

The Lower East Side has become heavily gentrified over the past decade, with that stretch of Houston having lots of clubs. Katz’s still serves many of the club kids in the overnight.
