My mother and sister thought it would be cute to dress me as some kind of princess one Halloween c 1963. I made it to the house across the street and ran back home and that was it for Halloween for many years. Boys don’t like to be dressed as girls. Oh, and the other boys on the street let me hear about it. My mother tried the “they were jealous” line. UM...NO!

No particular offense intended to your mom or sister, but it has always amazed me what some parents do to their children without realizing it. While I didn’t do this type of thing, I wouldn’t be surprised if I did something else that embarrassed my kids. I sure tried not to.

I remember my mother and I, as a little girl, joking around with my little brother once by either doing his hair like a girl’s or putting makeup on him. Back then, we thought of it as funny, I think. We didn’t think like parents have to think today. But, my father walked in and hit the roof: “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
