At Bowden doesn’t quote Jerimiah Wright like Tiger Woods does. The same goes for Mickelson

Who cares? As long as he, or someone else, beats Woods.
Interesting article. I’m fascinating by how people project themselves and their own issues onto sports figures and sports teams.
Maybe I’ll get a chance to watch a bit of the final round this afternoon.
I would recommend anyone read the book by Rick Reilly, Who's your caddy to get some insight into Phil and his family, Reilly caddied for his sister.
I still like watching Tiger over the past few days, but I do not feel the same investment in seeing him break all the records as I did in the past. Once you know the guy's a creep all the rest of his flaws that I once ignored now become more pronounced with every drive into the woods.
I like to watch Phil, but I see what some people mean about him.
Some people prefer a golfer who is absolutely ruthless, who will do anything to win. Their ideal would be someone like Tiger, if Tiger wasn’t interested in women.
Never heard of the guy. I guess he must golf. The only golfer I know is Tiger. I have not watched one single minute of the Masters. Although I gues if Tiger wins, they will have something about that on the news.
For me, Phil appears as a slacker. Seems he plays for his own entertainment. Not to win, maybe sometimes, but just because he can.
Envy is a powerful emotion.
He has always irked my last nerve. Last year he said he had to win a particular tournament for his wife because she had cancer. It seemed like exploitation to me.
I can’t even explain why he annoys me so much.
I am not a big golfer, but how does a “phony” shoot a 67 at the masters? WTF.
Hint: it isn’t bragging if you can do it
Phil’s a phoney? What does he do? Practice rounds at the local windmill course?
Go Couples! Tiger needs some big gold chains and basketball shoes.
That’s interesting. I work with many celebrities and I usually only hear that rare charge of “phony” from people who finally got to meet the “star” they’ve always admired only to be disappointed because they simply didn’t get enough attention back from their star (it’s usually just the narcissists who go through this). “They didn’t like me, so THEY’RE phony - THEY’RE to blame.”
Conversely, I became friends with a natl radio talk show host a few years ago (whom many here know). My first impression was “Wow! He’s not like his on-air personality at all! Hell, he doesn’t even SOUND the same!” He wasn’t the least bit interested in political talk, off air and his energy was different. I had to carefully make the distinction between “phony” vs. “Professional Broadcaster” who is simply a terrific and authentic person off mic.
Dollars to donuts Joe Posnanski’s irrational friends voted for Obama.
There are only 34 Rules Of Golf.

I like Phil. I even like the way he blows tournaments by going all in with the driver. And I certainly hope that he beats Tigers ass today.
Wow, if they don’t like Phil, they must really hate Tiger! Comparing the two, Phil is so far ahead that I can’t imagine anyone still pulling for Woods. I now call him Scumbag Woods - a fitting title.
Me, I,m pulling for Mickelson. He is a nice gentleman and a great example for golf...
Not only doesn’t fit but is an embarrassment to be throwing it around. Phil is so much better a person than most that I really just don’t get it. Maybe it’s just that fact that he is challenging to top players - who knows. He seems to be a good family man and concerned about his wife and family.
Just what is this author and others seeing that is so different?
I have heard this s**t on golf message boards where some guy who is a freind of a caddy, who knows another guy once had a slight because Phil supposedly did not do something. Total nonsense. It is like a fifth hand story or something.
Phil spends hours signing autographs especially for the kinds.
I mean face it - adults wanting autographs are losers in my book. Give the guy(s) a break. Kids wanting autographs is another thing. Phil interacts with the fans. Other people on golf message board who have met him say he is a good guy. I know a guy who’s sister is a neighbor of Phil’s in So Cal and said he is a good guy who spends lots of time with the family.
Phil played very very well this weekend.
