A classified ad I ran on FastPitch:
"Here Is the exciting truth: the human brain loves to acquire new information.
Imagine the misery of human brains stuck in public schools where the curriculum is in effect a war on content, and the reigning educational philosophy states that children must be protected from knowledge. Don't let your child be a victim of the Ignorance Engineers.
With regard to ignorance, its time to go cold turkey. No more ignorance! From this point on, learning is king, and knowledge is the whole point.
A simple one-step recovery program is available free for all students (and all public schools). The program is titled Teach One Fact Each Day. This thing is easy and fool-proof. Anyone can do it. The program can be started now.
For simple instructions, see 47: Teach One Fact Each Day on Improve-Education.org.
Note: this is not a product. It is an idea, an organizing principle. It is also satire of an Education Establishment that would undoubtedly claim 'one fact each day' is unreasonable and impossible."

Oh, I do love my fellow Freepers. We are all on the same loopy, wonderful wavelength!
LOL!
One go to Amazon and buy the Illustrated Comic Books that will start the reading adventure.
Buy 7 titles.Count of Monte Cristo, Ivanhoe, Last of the Mohicans, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, War of the Worlds, Hamlet. Your choice is important but adventure, romance and villians will usually be interesting.
Buy the used versions and we're talking about less that $50. I'll bet this will be about a weeks worth of reading.
Two once the fire is lit you take your child to the library and depending on age find the full length version which will throw gas on the fire.
Three A trip to Blockbusters to rent the DVD and voila the child is ready to write a report to you about what he/she has learned.
Good Luck!
