Interesting. Were all 172’s still taildraggers by 1975, or was this a special order or a conversion?

It was a tricycle. Someone crashed it and it was sold at an auction to an A & P. He rebuilt it as a 180hp and converted it to a taildragger.

Any plane that gets me to Miami, then a 12 seater puddle jumper to Marathon Key.

767 to Barcelona - Rome is great also. Retired now, flying a Gulfstream 450 to Anchorage tomorrow, great town for a layover.

Before I bought the 195 I converted an 0-360/1956 172 to a taildragger using all 180 parts....link to an article I wrote about it on Taildraggers.com> Here

I own and am flying a Quicksilver GT500 and a Quicksilver GT400. I have a Sports Pilot ticket. Currently my home base is Washington, GA (KIIY) and I have roamed out to San Antonio, TX; Fort Pierce, FL; Charleston, WV; and other places. Usually I am flying to Charlotte, NC and North Myrtle Beach, SC to see the same girl friend.

I hope to upgrade to the new Piper Sport in the next few months.

I sure would like to see a Freeper Fly In sometime within 600 miles of “KIIY”.

Cessna 172’s were never taildraggers. Cessna’s taildraggers included the 170,180, 140, 120 and 195. Plus some of Clyde Cessna’s early products were taildraggers. (I might have left out some models of Cessna that were tailwheel.)

A company makes a conversion called Texas Taildragger where they modify Cessna 152’s into tailwheel aircraft.

Wow, Citations.....knew some big hitters were here.

My fav was a Twin Commanche, but don’t fly anymore....started with ‘49 Ryan Navion, Commanche 180, then twin Commanche, then Cessna 310 - but Twin Commanche was the best, tho a little hot on landing....

I have two friends with turbos and we are kind of the bastard children in the 195 club. :o) We all agree to use it as a normalizer rather than horsepower booster...don't feel too good using 35 inches on a 1930's technology engine...but it's nice to have more throttle as you climb compared to the normally aspirated R-755...and after a few niggling problems were sorted out after the debut of the STC it is working well for most.
