What does your Freeper sign on mean? Why did you choose it?
Studying his blade, Ingtar did not seem to hear. Humankind is being swept away everywhere. Nations fail and vanish. Darkfriends are everywhere, and none of these southlanders seem to notice or care. We fight to hold the Borderlands, to keep them safe in their houses, and every year, despite all we can do, the Blight advances. And these southlanders think Trollocs are myths, and Myrddraal a gleemans tale. He frowned and shook his head. It seemed the only way. We would be destroyed for nothing, defending people who do not even know, or care. It seemed logical. Why should we be destroyed for them, when we could make our own peace? Better the Shadow, I thought, than useless oblivion, like Carallain, or Hardan, or . . . . It seemed so logical, then.
...
Rand did not know what to say. It was as if Egwene had told him she had murdered children. Too horrible to be believed. Too horrible for anyone to admit to unless it was true. Too horrible. After a time, Ingtar spoke again, firmly. There has to be a price, Rand. There is always a price. Perhaps I can pay it here.
Ingtar, I -
It is every mans right, Rand, to choose when to Sheathe the Sword. Even one like me.
Before Rand could say anything, Hurin came running down the alley. The patrol turned aside, he said hurriedly, down into the town. They seem to be gathering down there. Mat and Perrin went on. He took a quick look down the street and pulled back. Wed better do the same, Lord Ingtar, Lord Rand. Those bug-headed Seanchan are almost here.
Go, Rand, Ingtar said. He turned to face the street and did not look at Rand or Hurin again.
Take the Horn where it belongs. I always knew the Amyrlin should have given you the charge. But all I ever wanted was to keep Shienar whole, to keep us from being swept away and forgotten.
I know, Ingtar. Rand drew a deep breath. The Light shine on you, Lord Ingtar of House Shinowa, and may you shelter in the palm of the Creators hand. He touched Ingtars shoulder. The last embrace of the mother welcome you home. Hurin gasped. Thank you, Ingtar said softly. A tension seemed to go out of him. For the first time since the night of the Trolloc raid on Fal Dara, he stood as he had when Rand first saw him, confident and relaxed. Content.
Rand turned and found Hurin staring at him, staring at both of them. It is time for us to go.
But Lord Ingtar -
- does what he has to, Rand said sharply. But we go. Hurin nodded, and Rand trotted after him. Rand could hear the steady tread of the Seanchans boots, now. He did not look back.

Mine was chosen during Hillary Clinton’s listening tour in her first run for the Senate seat for NY state.
raccoonradio
I am a fan of cartoons with anthro animals and my fave
animal is a raccoon (foxes too). Radio = I have been on a
college radio station north of Boston since 1981 (really!) and
am active on radio messageboards (I also do the Howie Carr
Show ping list and try to pass on any info on talk radio
to FR). I use raccoonradio on the messageboards
“It’s Aramaic . . . [means] ‘I’d hit it’”
Funny, in Hebrew it translates:
“This account has been banned or suspended.”
I picked beaversmom because the 1950’s is/was considered a good time period in an American history. In reality, whether it was or not, I don’t know—I wasn’t around then. It was after WWII and before the 60’s and it just seems like it was a good decade. More innocent. More conservative. June Cleaver is the quintessential 1950’s TV mom and represents to me that idealized time. I’m nothing like the fictional Beaver Cleaver mom in looks or personality though. My true name should be the anti-beaversmom but that might be construed as being against or opposed to the character and/or 50’s.
Oh wow, I don't care who you are, that right there was funny!
It’s a hint at my last name.
LOL!! I like the joke! Doing the “already posted” link to a thread from two and a half years ago. No kidding. It grates me when self-appointed posting police chase threads around with links! WTG!
Liberty - freedom to act in a moral manner (to be distinguished from ‘license’ - freedom without moral restraint in the language of our forebears. A distinction lost on most modern folks.)
1970 - the year of my birth.
lol.
Mine was my "club name" during my wild youth in Manhattan.
=)
since 81 what on a trash 80
I was wondering last night about that show. Shame it was cancelled.
I couldn’t think of anything clever but had just put a batch of chocolate chip cookies in the oven, so...
LOL, Laz... thanks for that... although, more technically, LA ZAMA translates to “I am able to strike, or beat”. Not sure you captured the true essence of your original intent.
All this time, you’ve been saying “I’d BEAT it!”
For the record, mine is a tribute to Stanley “Spinner” Webb, 1st Looey in the 256th Louisiana National Guard unit...
A character from the role-playing game “Twilight 2000”. yes, I’m a huge nerd.
Are you a spy for the Obama administration trying to find out who we really are?
Used to be a mountaineering instructor, part-time.
If I told you, I’d have to kill you.
