Not HER best, but way ahead of the rest.
I think this is a close to uncomfortable as it gets for her.
The dress/makeup looks great on her, IMO.
Yeah, swing it brother, swing!
I thought she did a good job in making the lyrics mean something, the song and the genre are ‘eh’ for me, but Crystal is doing well learning how to be a performer
Exactly-they’re pimping Aaron now for whatever reason. He’s a cute little kid but no Idol for sure.
Dang! Kara said don’t lose herself....how can she not singing Sinatra?? And, quit arguing with the judges!! So annoying!!!
Apparently, snapping fingers and swaying is on DW the Stars and not permitted on AI. Man, swing people and when you swing, two snaps and a circle. LOL
>>She is perfect...but....it just seemed emotionless to me.<<
It was clearly difficult for her — outside of her normal areas of strength (which have many).
Nice explanation of her rationale and approach. I think part of the reason she continues to do so well is she respects the craft of singing. She doesn’t go for the cheap tricks and gives deference to her medium’s requirements.
It may sound like I am bit on the bandwagon, but I really do appreciate what she brings to Idol.
I still think they should do a duet night, randomly pair them up and let them pick a great duet song. On Sinatra night, I think that again and can’t help but think of my favorite Sinatra duet with Keely Smith “How Are You Fixed For Love?”
This is a Public Service Announcement.........it Mike (he is a new dad, you know) singe sither “My Way” or “New York New York” I will be no longer on the thread, as I will be in therapy! That is all......... ;-)
It makes me wonder if the powers that be told her to start talking back or if she’s just getting more comfortable (or maybe she wants to go home). She used to just stand there and not say much of anything like she was terrified and the last couple of weeks she’s been pretty vocal. I agree it’s annoying.
Agreed...the tallest blade of grass gets cut first, as they say.
I hate the judges slamming someone for not being perfect when singing genres they wouldn’t ever record.
If he sings “My Way” he will deserve to be booted off at the end of the show tonight.
Her tramp stamp slipped up a bit.
That’s not at all how Summer Wind goes. I agree with Simon. She made it her own but even when Frank did Summer Wind, it’s not a song that makes a lot of sense - not one of my favorites to begin with. There are so many great Frank songs, Summer Wind was not one of them. Again, way too slow. Wind is fast, not slow. Man, they need me out there. LOL
Her song is "Summer Wind". HC isn't thrilled by the choice.
Connick: I still don't know why this song means something to her. Hope to find out.
Wow. Crystal is glammed UP. No granola and Birkenstocks tonight, LOL. She's doing a good job, even though this isn't her type of performance.
Randy: It was a great arrangement. More subdued performance. Didn't do anything new with it. Kind of sleepy for me.
Ellen: Wanted to see more snap. Wanted you to loosen up. But wow, if this was the first time I saw you I wouldn't know you were that other girl.
Kara: I kinda liked it. I was impressed by your phrasing.
Simon: Love the song, but I don't know if I would have picked that song for you. Second half was better. You've had a couple of okay weeks. Now is about being in it to win it. You have to nail it week after week after week.
Seacrest asks why she chose that song.
Crystal:To me it's a real sweet love story. I don't think I should sing really big notes just because I'm on American Idol.
Simon: I'm giving you this advice to help you. (he wants her to make the best impression she can)
Crystal: I appreciate that, I do.
I dont care what anyone says...that THING in Crystals chin looke like a big ole blackhead!
