I remember a fire can that I made in Girl Scouts. Take a tuna can, coil cardboard inside very tightly, and pour wax in. Allow to harden.
I imagine that would work but would be sooty.
I like your tuna can idea! I remember making fire starters with cardboard, string & wax with the GS back in the early 70s.
When my son’s and grandsons and various friends go bow and arrow deer hunting up north, they make bean bombs. You put a can of beans in the campfire and when it blows up, if anyone catches it before it hits the ground they get a reward....(plus a trip to the local burn center for their hands if they forget their gloves)

Exactly, thanks to the cats, I have plenty of cat food cans.
They work great, I always keep a few around.
