I’ll second the idiocy of buying a 1st gen apple product, as one who purchased a first gen iPod and Powerbook Titanium. Neither lasted a year, and apple hasn’t garnered a cent of my hard-earned money since.

I tempted to want an iPad but it doesn’t really do anything.

I can look past the lack of flash and even accept their reasoning but I HAVE to have multitasking and the only reason I would want a tablet is so I can use a pen with it to take notes and draw. I would have snapped one of these up for college if it just had pen input. I also can’t look past the fact that is has NO USB ports or card readers. I don’t want to have to buy and swap out dongles.

I have an iPhone and it works flawlessly but these are the reasons I HATE apple. I don’t like having to hack my devices to use them properly.

Oh, I wasn't looking to buy one. Only people with certain imbalances buy the first iteration of Apple products. But the Best Buy is right next to my Starbucks and I really needed coffee.

When say I was first in line, may I add that this was 8:57 a.m., and I was the line.

Dude, the only reason you needed the coffee is because you were up at 8:57 AM on a friggin' Saturday morning! Try sleeping in for a change!

Gah! The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

You were saying ...

Only people with certain imbalances buy the first iteration of Apple products.

I beg you pardon... LOL ...

I'll have you know, that I bought the first iteration of an Apple product a few years back and I still have it. It's an iPhone. I got it a few days after it went on sale, just because they were out in my area and I went to another state to get one.

No..., I didn't travel to another state for that reason, but I knew I was going to go there and so I figured I would get one there. :-)

AND..., I'll have you know that I bought one other product, "right out of the starting blocks" before the first one sold in public, because I knew it was going to be an immediate success (I just "knew it" automatically).

That was an Iomega Zip Drive ...

That was the first time I bought an electronic product, like that, "sight unseen" having never seen a review on one, because the first one had never been sold yet. I bought on pre-order the first one ever to get out to the public. And I never had one bit of trouble with it and loved it to death... :-)

I went from having tons of floppies, at that particular time (for backup stuff) to dispensing with floppies and going with a pile of Zip Disks, instead. It worked beautifully for me.

There are just certain things that you know are going to be an immediate success.

I did the same thing with a "service" too -- signing up immediately for it and using it ever since then.

That's the iTunes Music Store... an amazing thing when it first came out -- just about 7 years ago (at the end of this month, April).

And now..., the Apple iTunes Music Store is the largest music retailer in the U.S. ... amazing...

Apple passes Wal-Mart, now #1 music retailer in US

I have not been in Best Buy since Thanksgiving - when the circular ‘celebrated’ a Muslim holiday instead of Thanksgiving. I told the manager that I had been planning on buying a washing machine, but that now they would have NONE of my business.

Reports are they sold 600,000 to 700,000 of them this weekend. That isn’t too bad.
