An Article of Faith (Obama's bad poll numbers are all Rush Limbaugh's fault)
nytimes.com ^ | April 2, 2010 | CHARLES M. BLOW

Since signing the health care reform bill, President Obama has been traipsing about the country trying to sell it. It’s not really working for him.

According to a CBS News poll released on Friday, President Obama’s approval rating on health care sank to a personal low: 34 percent. (His overall approval rating in the poll was also a new low for him: 44 percent.)

This is in large part because of Republican recalcitrance. The left loves him. The right not so much. Actually, not at all. According to a Quinnipiac University poll released last week, Obama’s job approval rating among Republicans was a measly 9 percent. On health care, his approval rating was an even-more-measly 7 percent.

Why? The Apostles of Anger in their echo chamber of fallacies have branded him the enemy. This has now become an article of faith. Obama isn’t just the enemy of small government and national solvency. He’s the enemy of liberty.

This underscores the current fight for the soul of this country. It’s not just a tug of war between left and right. It’s a struggle between the mind and the heart, between evidence and emotions, between reason and anger, between what we know and what we believe.

This conflict was captured in a tit-for-tat between Obama and Rush Limbaugh. In an interview with CBS this week, Obama complained about the “vitriol” coming from the likes of Limbaugh: “I think the vast majority of Americans know that we’re trying hard, that I want what’s best for the country.”

Limbaugh shot back on Friday, “I and most Americans do not believe President Obama is trying to do what’s best for the country.”

Awful lot of “vitriol,” including hate for ordinary Americans, coming from the poser and his administration. But to leftists, it’s never “hate” because they are so delusional that they think they are speaking the “truth.”

Rather obvious his policies are designed to destroy the middle class isn’t it? Not just one or two things, it’s one hit after the next. Saw this morning the mandate to put caloric guide on menus will cost one pizza chain of 21 stores in excess of $30,000 every time the the menu board is changed. A supplier goes under, the new one doesn’t have the exact product and all the chain’s menu boards and printed material must be redone.

Apparently our esteemed correspondent has forgotten this image:

Yes; this columnist is so very aptly named.

“Right wing” commentators like Rush, Beck, and so on are often accused by the left of lies, distortions, etc. but I don’t recall that I’ve often seen where those points have been proven; generally those arguments degenerate pretty quickly into ad hominem attacks.

If we started talking about the lies, distortions, and deceptions coming from President Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the like we could go on all day.

No it isn't. It is a struggle between right and wrong, between cooperation and control, and between influence and imposition. Chuckie blow is trying (pathetically) to present a device that makes our POV automatically wrong, and couched in language designed to make leftists feeeeeeel better.

Trying to make the focus Limbaugh is even more pathetic. The focus is Øbozo Chuckie, whether you like it or not. It is Øbozo not Rush, that is a sine qua non. Rush isn't attempting to impose his world-view on anyone, but Øbozo certainly is.

Nice try Chuckie....not.

This focus on faith has allowed people like Limbaugh to mislead and manipulate large swaths of the right.

Talk about faith .. the Nytimese don't even care to read the bill and they are in love with it!

someone need to edit that image and insert the obama face. I bet the media is going to cover it to illustrate how mean the right have become, totally ignoring that the left did it with bush and they’re fine with that

Gee, when Obama was elected, the media and democrats said the republican party was dead. They also said Rush was finished....no one listens to him now.

One year later, the president is accusing him of telling lies about health care and no one should listen to him.

I wish they would make up their minds. Listening to democrats and the media could almost make your head explode trying to figure out how they think. I wonder if the flip flop shoe business should be invested in..(the only thing I remember from old english classes is never end a sentence with a preposition and I just did) I think (in) :O(

Actually, that's a pretty succinct summary. The left has always appealed to emotion, and discouraged reason and logical thought. They cannot bear logic; they're afraid of it swaying their mindless hyperemotional followers.
