ORLANDO, Fla. -- Dozens of people who parked at the University of Central Florida for an event say they were set up after their cars were towed. They said event parking signs directed them to a lot, but more than 50 cars in that lot were towed. People said those signs and their cars were gone when they got back.
A viewer contacted WFTV after his car was towed Saturday, along with 52 others. All of them were in line to recover their cars at an impound lot and all of them attended the Glenn Beck show at UCF.
The people parked in a Kappa Sigma lot. Mike Vedder thinks they were set up. He doesn't know if it was a dislike of the conservative commentator or money.
Maybe the have a deal with the tow truck company or maybe they got kickbacks under the table," Vedder said.
They all said an event parking sign clearly directed them into the lot. Students at the fraternity wouldn't comment, but WFTV caught up with the owner of Orange County Towing and Recovery, Ronald Hulbert.
"I have a lot at stake, a lot invested. I'm not going to lose it over a $125 tow, times 53, times 53, it was a good day," Ronald Hulbert said.
Hulbert admits he's never towed that many cars in one day before; he said it took him at least eight hours to tow all the cars. Each driver had to pay cash, netting him more than $6,600.
Vedder also had to pay $25 for a cab ride to the tow company.
UCF said, out of 30 recent events, it hasnt had a problem, but Vedder said this was his last at that arena.
I wont come to anymore. I'm going to tell everyone else it's not a place I want to be," he said.
WFTV was told to call Paul Gamble with Kappa Sigma, but he did not return any phone calls.

Welcome aboard.
So?
If there was nothing to hide, the fraternity should have responded. This many people with the same story indicates to me that something is fishy. I don’t care why they parked at a distance.
It sounds like a prank to me. I have to admit, if it happened at an Al Gore speech, I’d think it was pretty funny.
Welcome to FREE REPUBLIC
I bet most of these people don’t know that, saw the signs and parked there thinking it was the right place.
They were set up by the frat house, period.
Quite interesting that you signed up today just to defend this.
If the attendees were enticed into false event parking, then Glenn Beck should: 1) hire a lawyer on behalf of the attendees and depose the owner of the property; 2) sue the person who had knowledge of, or responsibility for the fraud. Sue the college if there is any connection.
I’d agree if it were a single crafty individual, but if it was the frat organization, not so much.
Why is it Glen Beck’s responsibility?
I’ve always wondered about kids near Forest Hills Stadium during the U.S. Open and Fenway Park during a RedSox game who are offering parking in local driveways. How do I know he has any relationship with the home owner? What if I give him $25 bucks and find my car gone and an irate homeowner asking whothehell said I could park in his driveway?
Frats have deep pockets and a good lawyer could probably teach them that pulling those types of ‘pranks’ can be expensive.

They are getting taken to the cleaners with comments.

So what do you think actually happened here?
Did these 53 separate carloads of event attendees each just randomly decide to park in the inconvenient and unlawful parking lot for no apparent reason?
wow. did you and the Frat boys get a good laugh.
I wonder if any of the attendees have photos of the signs?
Would make a good case for a Lawsuit.
What jerkoff Frat brat came up with this juvenile stunt?
Don’t hold your breath waiting for a reply. This will probably be his first and last post on FR under that handle. He has probably already “moved on” to other conservative web forums to post the same tripe.
I can’t tell if you’re offended that people are blaming Kappa Sigma or you’re offended that the fraternity did this.
If your offended that folks are blaming Kappa Sigma then your argument holds no water because I can guarantee you that nobody that went to see Glen Beck knows what parking is available at UCF and where that parking is in relation to the event itself.
Frankly, UCF has too little parking for too many people so it’s not surprising that people park in the first ‘Event Parking’ area they see that is available.
What UCF needs to do to solve its parking problems is to charge students a faculty a $2,000.00 a year “carbon” fee to have the privilege to park on campus. The money raised can be used to fund an expanded bus service and off-campus parking.
It’s about time these college liberals start putting their money where their mouth is.
