Would any of you wise FReepers help me or point me in the the right direction. I need to adjust my deductions from my paycheck so that I don't overpay my income taxes. Use the worksheet attached to the W-4 form that you will have to fill out to change your withholding allowances:

Increase your withholding allowances (they have no relation to the number of dependents) Ask your employer for a new W-4 (Employee’s Withholding Allowance Certificate), or print one out from the IRS Web site.
This is done on line 5 of the W-4.
Sign the W-4 form and give a copy to your employer.
Monitor your future paychecks to make sure the change has been made.

Be very very careful.
If you owe a lot at the end of the year, then unka obama will either require you file quarterly OR just fine you, especially if it happens for a few consecutive years.

I thought they only required quarterly is you were in business for yourself.

I am no tax expert. But I prefer for Uncle Sam to let me keep my earnings and pay Apr 15 vice Uncle Sam keeping my earnings and giving the difference back in June at 0% interest

>>I thought they only required quarterly is you were in business for yourself.<<
They will also require it of people who chronically “underpay.” If you owe over a certain threshold (I just don’t remember if it is a fixed dollar amount or a %) over several years, the IRS will require quarterly payments in addition to standard withdrawals. Essentially they make you pay to the level you “should have” if your pay cycle tax deductions are lower than their calculations.

I’ve been overpaying for so long I can’t remember when I didn’t get at least $3000 back on a combined income.

Adjust your W4.
Why float Obama a loan? at 0% interest for a year?

You are on the other side — you need to back that off so you are getting or paying a few hundred. No reason to give unka fuhrer your money for a moment longer than required by law.

It feels good to get that check in June but it is a free loan to Uncle Sham for a year on your back.

You.... and everyone else should adjust their withholding to where nearly nothing is withheld from your paychecks, above what is mandatory.
People shouldn’t give the government what is in effect an interest free loan from your paychecks. If everyone would do this, it would be fun to see the results.
lol They would probably need to double the amount of their pathetic Treasury actions every week to keep the check and money printers running.

The biggest problem right now is making just the simple utility payments. I need more of my money in my pocket instead of Obama’s bottomless pockets.
