I have seriously been thinking of leaving the country. My hope is pretty much gone that we can turn any of this around. Who would I be staying for....to support the people who ride in the cart and don't contribute and hate this country? I'm too old for all this and if the immigration bill goes through, I totally believe all is lost. How can we pay VAT, Tax and Trade, Healthcare, Local sales taxes, income taxes, etc., etc. and survive? So overused today, but it's "non-sustainable"
Texas will never leave the union. Just take a look at Texas demographics. I am a Texan and can see first hand that most conservative thinking people are approaching retirement. There is no way they are going to sacrifice Social Security or Medicare.
BTW, Obama probably won the under 30 crowd in Texas.
Do you really think that if sucession was put to a referendum that Texans would vote Yes?
Not likely, just take a look at Texas demographics.
I may leave where I am now, but only to find a better place to make a stand within the borders of the U S of A and maybe to regroup with like-minded individuals - if it comes to that.....But leave my country? Not only no, but hell, no! I ain’t running....
If anyone nearing retirement thinks they have years of Social Security and Medicare waiting for them they are in lala land.
Are you saying we are Chattel Slavery?
My ancestors came here in 1755 and fought to help form this country. We have been contributors to society in a positive way up to now. I don’t plan on giving up the blood, sweat and labor of 9 generations very easily.
I respect what you’re saying, but the militia thing did me in tonight. As far as I know, they were no making threats. So people cannot have freedom to assemble now? I’ve lived in countries where there’s no freedom to assemble and wow, that sure makes you realize what that really means. I’m 67, a woman, and I don’t want the last part of my life to be spent fighting a big earred, corrupt, arrogant liar. His roots are so deep, you’ll never find the end.
off the grid, eh?.....sounds good...I hope to be done with credit cards one of these days, and maybe some day stop working and just live with what we have ...I hate working and paying for it with taxes....
Rush said he was going to be gone until Wed of this week to see about medical services elsewhere..he said something about flying for 17 hours...let’s wait and see what he has to say.
I was just thinking how in the days of the war in Viet Nam and then those running to Canada to avoid the service or to dodge orders. Now we find ourselves thinking of running to somewhere else to avoid the robbery of our income.
God Bless the USA.
Ironic. My grandparents escaped a commie country only to have it saturate the country they escaped to. It took two generations. No matter what one tries to escape from, it seems to follow. Best thing to do is to stand up against it and fight it, crush the enemy under our feet. Crush it like a worm. Evil should not be allowed to survive. We must keep our spirits up and fight the good fight. The enemy only has the amount of power we allow them to have.
Yea...go TEXAS!
“Thanks for the info. Im VERY interested in the Philippines (er, uh, as well as acquiring a Philippina girlfriend myself!) and would be interested in e-mailing you again in the near future for more information. Many thanks!”
Yes, FReepmail me anytime. I have several FR contacts that are interested.
I’m with you. We have a house in El Salvador but we’d never abandon the United States. Do people actually believe that the world (particularly the Americas) will hold if the US collapses?
I wash born here, an I wash raizh’d here, and dad gum it, I am gonna die here, an no sidewindin’ bushwackin’, hornswogglin’ crocker croaker is gonna rune me bishen cutter...
They may be deluded, but don’t expect 50 and 60 somethings of modest means to embark on the great unknown at that stage of their lives.
Do you really think that sucession would pass a referendum in Texas?
I don’t know about extradition but they do have banking agreements.
I just turned 60 and don’t expect to be provided for in my old age by the government. I moved with my DH onto totally raw property, in a place we had just moved to - nothing but trees, leaves and dirt - that we bought with cash, from fixing up an old house and selling it, when I was 50. We owe not one penny, have had great hardships, live in a small cabin DH built entirely himself, along with every single other improvement on the property. I lived years without electricity or hot water and a few years without an indoor toilet. We only built or had what we could pay for with cash.
I embarked, with VERY modest means, over 50, into an unknown situation. I have no dependence on shopping, frills, hairdos, TV, entertainment, or stuff most other people consider necessities.
We don’t owe .01, we own our proprety outright, and are missing some teeth.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If people my age want to live a cushy life and depend on the government to take care of them, when the whole stinking thing is going to collapse anyway, that’s their problem. They should wake up.
Well, there’s a large percentage of Mexicans here but there has always been in Texas. Outside of the major cities, from my experience, there’s not many..minus border cities, etc.
what will they do when there is nothing there? What if the entire baby boomers get screwed because DC has spent all the money.
