My family went to McDonald's for lunch today, to consume our usual $1 McDoubles and shared fries and drinks.
The bottom line is that it sounds like businesses have anticipated this vote and are initiating the process of cutting jobs to keep costs down.
The managers were having a meeting and we ended up sitting down right next to them. I don't know their McJobTitles, but basically most of them were store managers and one of them was a traveling manager for the area.
My ears pricked up as I heard heated tones! The store managers were protesting that too many people would lose their jobs. The traveling manager said that this is just a "business decision" that is being made because the "targets" must be met no matter what for the stores to stay open. I'm assuming that the "targets" are some sort of net profit goal for each store.
Key points: -Staffing costs are going to increase a lot on a per-employee basis, so that means fewer employees.
-The company is not going to accept a lower profit target.
-Even though the extra costs might not happen until the future, the cuts are going into place ASAP because the profit targets must always be met.
-Other businesses have not been able to avoid bankruptcy, including fast food restaurants in the area, and McDonald's in my area is going to do what it takes to stay in business.
-Nobody is happy about firing workers, but it's going to happen anyway in order for the company to stay in business.
Not to mention the people with special needs or those who who are mediocre will be cut first, thanks Obammmy, thansk for breaking it.
If cap&trade is rammed through, threatening to double electric rates, they will have to have another meeting for another restructuring of their corporate plan.
Isn’t that ALWAYS how it works?
Isn’t MCD in Illinois? The Illinois who gave us this nightmare?
RINO John Cornyn (TX) said he will not work to repeal it.
So much for people not losing their health care plan. . . .
The idea is that it is cheaper for the company to drop people and force them into the pool. If the fines are too large, companies will keep their benefits.
lolz
In other news, Obama adorned the presidential limousine with red-ball fringe, shag carpet, pina colada crown air freshener, lotto ticket dispenser, curb feelers, and louvered headlamp covers.
The Obamster further outfitted the limo's interior headliner with durable vinyl that can withstand Michelle's cloven hooves digging into it during whoopee, as well as commercial-load shock absorbers.
Well, I was talking to one of the cashiers at our local grocery store which is (I think) a national chain. The store is cutting back the hours it’s open and reducing employee hours. She’s one of the lucky ones who will keep her full time status but others are losing theirs. They’ll be filling in the gaps with part time employees.

I think if you have fewer than 50 employees, you will be exempt from most of these mandates. So any smaller company that thinks it can get by with fewer than 50 will do it. (
Fire or lay off employees to avoid the mandates.)
My hair salon owner said he will have to hire only full-time workers because he cannot pay the unemployment insurance and health insurance costs of part-timers.
Have toy seem McDâs fish fillet? It is way smaller then last year!!
Once the "government insurance exchanges" are set up, your employer is likely to cancel your group coverage entirely. You'll then have to buy your own coverage at whatever price the government approves, or pay a fine and wait to get insurance until you need it.
At least, that's what I've been able to glean from the bill. Nobody, even the traitors that voted for it, knows exactly how the mechanisms will work.
Welcome to Amerika.

And, since they will receive welfare, unemployment, food stamps, WIC, and Medicare, they won't mind.
So, when you figure the cost of running the franchise, food, utilities, insurance and maintenance - these are not reduceable .... they are what they are. The only control that a store owner has, is his labor cost.
Right now the local Kroger has 4 self-check outs and 12 manned check outs. I'm guessing in the next few years these numbers will flip. Retail outlets aren't going to spend $15,000 a year to insure minimum wage, part-time employees and their entire family.
Maybe losing their health benefits and/or their jobs will awaken some of the dodos who voted for these clowns. Then, again, maybe not. Some folks are terminally dumb and ignorant and don’t want that status disturbed.
Wow, another liberal troll, trying to force someone to eat the way you want them to. Or don't you realize how communistic it is to try to enforce your eating habits on to someone else. FR is full of communist trolls.
