Donnelly defends health care vote
Kokomo Tribune ^ | March 22, 2010 | SCOTT SMITH

U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly said the health care reform bill will save the average Hoosier family money and will reduce the federal deficit, a day after casting a decisive swing vote.

Donnelly was among a group of Democratic holdouts, led by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., who backed the bill only after President Barack Obama signed an executive order banning the use of federal funds to pay for abortion.

Republicans attacked the order, and the bill, vowing to fight to repeal the measure. But Monday, Donnelly said he’d done what he thought was best for Hoosier families.

Backed by a Congressional Budget Office study that estimates the bill will reduce the federal deficit by $1.2 trillion over the next 20 years, Donnelly said the legislation also will help small businesses pay for employee health insurance, end the ability of insurance companies to cancel or rescind policies, and offer middle-class families subsidies to help pay for insurance.

“My point of reference has always been, what do I think makes the best sense for people back home?” Donnelly said. “I talked to as many people as I could, I studied as much as I could, and I prayed a lot.”

Asked what families can expect from the legislation, Donnelly said, “It’s going to save them money, because health insurance will be competitive again in our state.”

If he doesn’t, he will by the end of the week...

U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly said the health care reform bill will save the average Hoosier family money and will reduce the federal deficit ...

When that's proved to be false, will he kill himself in remorse over having caused so much harm by his stupidity?

He didn’t talk to anyone around here or he wouldn’t have had enough of his butt left to BE one of Nancys little butt-boys.

Last we heard from him...he was a “no”.

FUJD!!!

Anyone believing this is too stupid to represent Americans in Congress.

A democrat is always a democrat first and foremost. Evan Bayh would/will say essentially the say thing. The libtards are always doing it for the good of the people they lord it over.

RE: "U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly said the health care reform bill will save the average Hoosier family money"

What are you smoking Donnelly?

In the short term I'll be paying here in Texas so the "average Hoosier family" can save money.

In case you've been in a slumber it is just a matter of time ... a short amount of time ... that we here in the U.S. will be saddled with a national sales tax over and above federal (and state for some) income taxes. I'm tapped out already dude... being nickled and dimed to a slow death.

Donelley Needs to hear from his constituents. A message wrapped around a rock is difficult to ignore. Our congressthing, Walt Minnick (D) actually voted no. This being Idaho, he perhaps had a better senese of self-preservation than most - at least when it came to this issue.

State sovereignty - that’s another matter. He’s not our friend there.

Yeah, I know. I always wonder, are they stupid, evil, or both. I guess it doesn’t really matter, since the outcome is the same.

"and I prayed a lot."

If he did, then he either wasn't listening to the answers, or he was praying to the wrong entity.

Anyone saying such a thing is either too stupid to hold public office or too dishonest to hold public office. Donnelly is a democrat so I'm guessing he falls into both categories.

There is a local, very conservative, Christian guy with a radio talk show who has been trying to get Donnelly to come on and discuss how he would vote. He calls during his show everyday and gets voice mail to which he leaves a message that is never returned. I can't remember how many days he has called, a bunch, but they never return his calls.

His opening page is about the vote of two D-Congressmen.
