Nothing accomplished. We keep losing every battle. All indications are, with immigration “reform” and more than 50% of Americans (and climbing) dependent on government, our votes could be diluted to nothing by 2012 (assuming we have a real election), the way things are going.

B-Chan, a prolific and wise Freeper, is right. It’s going to take the system collapsing financially under the weight of its own absurdity for real change to happen because Obama is correct in his judgment: The vast majority of Americans will bend over and will not seriously fight bigger, fatter, dumber government, including so-called "conservatives."

It'll take a financial crisis.

I couldn't disagree more. Millions of people have stood up against socialism just since last February and those numbers are growing. There were 50,000 in D.C this last week and that was on less than one weeks noticed! The push back against socialism is only fourteen months old. The fight to defend the Constitution is far from over. The people are the government and will have the final say as to how we are governed.

I totally agree with that. The “United” States is really at least two countries masquerading as one. It’s way past time to stop the fraud and to stop bothering with one side imposing its radically different view on the other and go our separate ways in an amicable divorce. I just don’t think that, absent a crisis, it’s going to happen.

For those that point to people like Palin, just look at Alaska. It’s one of the most government-dependent states in the Union. How much did she change that during her term.

She’s no Reagan/Thatcher, and even that’s not enough when what this country needs is the economic equivalent of a Pinochet to slash government and destroy’s its strangehold on the economy.

Won’t happen — too many are too invested in the sclerotic status quo, like Europe — absent a financial crisis.

First step - cancel cable news. I'm calling Comcast today. We have Free Republic and talk radio. Screw cable TV. It's become way too epensive anyway. Besides I'm cutting spending. My money won't be going to any liberal entity or sponsor of a liberal entity. I will be reviewing sponsors of some of the popular TV shows and making a list of what NOT to buy. Starting with the CBS, NBC and ABC evening news broadcasts

Well said. The defeatism around here was irritating before Obamacare passed. It's dangerous now. The enemy has committed a classic strategic blunder. Like Napoleon in Moscow and Hitler around Stalingrad, Obama has overreached and occupied ground he cannot hold. We need to exploit his mistake, not moan about his advance. It's time to cut the enemy's line of supply, surround his forces and exterminate them. That's what the next two election cycles are all about. The new contract with America can consist of just one word.

Yeah, and then what? Another prescription drug benefit? The fix is in. There is now an inexorable logic of ever more government control of the economy, which creates more problems and failures, which leads to more control over the economy, and the Republicans accommodate it. Their election rhetoric is bull$hit. These people and there families are just as invested as Democrats in government largesse. They just play conservative freedom-fighters on TV, then it’s back to your regularly scheduled bloat when the election’s over.
