Dancing queens: in preparation for the all-Russia beauty contest, girls are learning to waltz. I remember growing up in the 60's and 70's when the ideal Russian woman was bigger, stronger, but not quite as good looking as Jeremy Shockey. Then something happened to the universe and everything that was up became upside down, and everything that was backwards became the norm.
Russia has a flat tax and America is getting ready to have socialized health care crammed down our throats like the Kremlin used to do with the five year programs in Russia. Now as if that was not bad enough, I am beginning to see a lot of Russian women that look as good, if not better then many American women.
I'll ask you to judge and then, if I am wrong I'll admit it. But right now I it seems that the competition is beginning to go beyond the Olympics that Russia has finally been dethroned from, and has moved to the beauty pageant runway.

I was thinking more along the lines of what superficiality does to one's attractiveness...something you can intuit from overall appearance...
Russia, and Eastern Europe in general, have always had very beautiful young women. However during the Cold War years a lack of access to good health care and good food meant no dentistry, no cosmetics, bad skin, broken hair, and potato weight that accumulated through the years. Overwork, unmedicated pain, multiple abortions, and sorrow do not improve a woman’s looks either. Half a century ago those enormous lumbering babushkas you see in Russia were young beauties, too. Today, things are looking better for Russian women, though some of them still have a tough time compared to their Western sisters.
PS: That older looking white haired guy has to be one of the luckiest SOBs on Earth!

Strange things happen to women who are raised on Socialism/communism. Remember, this lady was probably born after the revolution that sent Russia into communism. So we really do not know what Russian women born and raised in freedom will really look like when they age....
