Officials: Bacterial meningitis kills two Oklahoma students March 11, 2010 1:36 p.m. EST STORY HIGHLIGHTS

(CNN) -- Authorities are investigating six possible cases of bacterial meningitis -- including two deaths -- in rural Oklahoma elementary school students.
The Rogers County Health Department and Oklahoma State Department of Health said two children from Oologah-Talala public school district have died from the disease. One of them was an 8-year-old, said Superintendent Rick Thomas.
Thomas said school was canceled Friday for the district.
"We just feel like we would rather err on the side of caution," he said, although he has urged parents to remain calm.
The state health board said it was providing antibiotics to the schools to help prevent the spread of meningococcal disease -- caused by the bacteria Neisseria meningitidis -- which can appear as pneumonia, septicemia or meningitis.
Meningitis is a disease caused by the inflammation of the meninges, the thin lining that surrounds the brain and the spinal cord, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A medical team at Oologah Lower Elementary School screened more than 100 people including faculty,

OH NO!!! I am certainly going to be praying for this school and for all the schools all over the country!!!!!
There is a definite uprising of “pestilence” at this time.
Around here it has been a pneumonia type illness...and a stomach type illness. Both spreading like wildfire.
The pneumonia is putting a lot of people in the hospital - but don’t know yet about any deaths. Hopefully they are able to get the antibiotics going in bigtime once the people get to the hospital.
It got me but I was fortunate to get to my wonderful doctor very early and got a shot of anitbiotic, a shot of steriods, some tamifly to take for a week, and then later some prednison and inhaler to take.
I got over the worst of it in 1 week.
However, people I work with have had it or something like it for MONTHS! And I work with someone who had the pneumonia variety - for six weeks - and who had terrible pains in their torso that required extra strong pain meds!
My doctor saw six people in 2 days in pneumonia in his practice - who had to go into the hospital - this was 2 weekends ago.
Ok - I will say - believe this is the “enemy” who has come in like a flood in the form of these pestilences - but we know that - in response to prayer - God raises up a standard whose name is Jesus Christ!
Against that banner - satan and his hordes cannot succeed.
Let’s pray for God to raise up his standard against this flood of illness (the specific types we know about) - in Oklahoma - in this school - but also in all the schools of this country!!!
Let’s pray for God to flood that school and flood those doctor’s offices and hospitals with His Healing Grace and mercy and deliverance from evil.
Here is a scripture we can join together to pray over this school in Oklahoma and in all the schools in Oklahoma and in all the homes in Oklahoma and in this entire country:
Psalm 107:

and he saved them from their distress.
20 He sent forth his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave.
21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.
If you have faith the size of a MUSTARD SEED you can pray this scripture over these schools, over all homes, and God will respond with power and effective healing and deliverance because it is TRUE, and it is a LIVING WORD, and it CANNOT go out and return to Him void (not bearing fruit).

May God heal and protect all those who have been exposed and are ill already. May the relatives of those departed turn to our Lord Jesus Christ for their comfort for He intimately knows their pain and suffering right now.
I am so sorry to hear this and we will continue to pray in the coming days for all concerned.
I had viral meningitis several years ago. The only symptom I had was an intermittent shock like pain in my head. Still it took me a month to heal and feel well again.
