In 1987 my 17 year old daughter woke up one morning with a bad headache. I gave her two aspirin. A half-hour later she told me the headache was getting worse and she wanted to go to the emergency room. So I took her there to satisfy her as she was not usually one to complain of any kind of pain.

First, they scoffed at arriving in the ER for something so minor, then the next thing was they were asking permission to do a spinal tap. I almost fainted.

She had viral meningitis but it took 3 days to differentiate so she was given the medicine for bacterial until they knew.

The main clue wasn’t so much the headache but the fact that she could not touch her chin to her chest. Be aware. They were the only symptoms she had.
