Farrah Fawcett was left out of the Oscar memorial tributes because she was better known as a TV star, it was disclosed yesterday
The former Charlie's Angels beauty was one of the biggest names to pass away last year and millions of fans around the world mourned her loss.
However, the producers of the Academy Awards on Sunday night neglected to add her list to a montage celebrating the movie industry's deaths of 2009.
Michael Jackson, Natasha Richardson, David Carradine and Brittany Murphy were among the stars featured.

Neither were any of the award winners... outside of Sandra.
LLS
And Carradine's derives from "The Long Riders" and "Kill Bill" -- frankly, I'm not seeing the difference between the two.
she wasn’t a big-screen star
And michael jackson was?????? I’m confused
Ditto. Great minds think alike:-)
Yeah, good point.
Farrah was actually in several movies, the last of which , Robert Duvall’s THE APOSTLE, I think of as one of the very best American movies of the 90s. She did one of the Burt Reynolds goodtime movies, and one I really like immediately post Charlie’sAngels, called “Somebody killed her husband”.
That was from 1978, and for the first time, showed she really could act.
Also, EXTREMITIES, from a well-known stage play, and a few TV movies like THE BURNING BED, and SMALL SACRIFICES, which were so well done, they put ‘feature films’ to shame, and where her acting was positively outstanding.
She was unfortunately also troubled and strung-out seeming
in her final years, even before being diagnosed with cancer,
and, as I see it, married to the wrong man, Ryan O’Neal.
They say MJ was included because he was the subject of a documentary last year. They can’t admit they are wrong. They include people no one has heard of (including, IIRC, publicists). BTW, Bea Arthur was in movies too (well at least one that I know of). They need to decide who they want to show.
Maybe her mother. But I thought I missed seeing her picture.
I support Fawcett being recognized last Sunday night, but Natasha had far more movies and a significantly better film career. They tripped all over themselves to explain Michael Jackson. That opens the door for anyone who’s every had a speaking part to be included.
I agree. I was bowled over by her performances in both “Burning Bed” and “Extremities”. She didn’t hold anything back at all, and was very, very believable in both roles.
Dom was my cousin!
Dom was my cousin!
That kind od seals the deal. They are indeed morons who cannot just apologize and admit a mistake. They could include her next year with an apology. That would be the classy, human thing to do.
Brittany Murphy made noise with the Aston Kutcher stuff, if that gossip hadn't occurred, I seriously doubt she makes a note because she was in "Clueless" and was the voice of Luann in the "King of the Hill" cartoon.
Except now I'm thinking on things, perhaps it was the way these people died ... that looks more to me like the tie than the fact that these folks were in show biz.
Dom was a comedic genious of a type we'll, sadly, never see again.
And Micahel Jackson was ???? Hell they had lots of unknowns and unkowables there..... Farrah was at least a household name. This doesn’t pass the giggle test
A lot of British movies. If you describe Fawcett you think TV and celebrity. If you think Richardson, film actress. I do support Fawcett being mentioned for the resons I have stated.
She was a Republican too wasn’t she. That was the unsaid reason.
