Miss. school prom off after lesbian's date request

JACKSON, Miss. – A northern Mississippi school district decided Wednesday not to host a high school prom after a lesbian student demanded she be able to attend with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.

The Itawamba County school district's policy requires that senior prom dates be of the opposite sex. The American Civil Liberties Union of Mississippi had given the district until Wednesday to change that policy and allow 18-year-old Constance McMillen to escort her girlfriend, who is also a student, to the dance on April 2.

Instead, the school board met and issued a statement announcing it wouldn't host the event at Itawamba County Agricultural High School in Fulton, "due to the distractions to the educational process caused by recent events."

Perfect. Now just have a private prom, by invitation only, and don’t invite the homos.

Well it was. :)

But it seems that they are pretty liberal. They have a black student and in one photo he is touching a white girl.

So? What's wrong with the boy and girl thing? Race and a chosen deviant behavior are like apples and oranges. Race is inherent. Homosexuality is acting out on vile thoughts. It's the same process that's chosen when a man does an animal or gets off on a woman's shoe.

Judge Bork's Slouching Towards Gomorrah is even more relevant today than when published 15 years ago. I'd heartily recommend it to anybody who wants a detailed understanding of how we arrived here, and where our current trajectory is taking us.

When I was a girl (1970s), my parents went to formal dances a few times a year. I suppose that twenty years earlier, it was even more common for middle-class adults to have tuxedo-and-ball-gown events. However, now it is almost never done.

And my mother never spent the amount of money that is now common for 8th grade girls going to the middle-school “prom.” Mom never paid to have her hair styled for a dance, for example. She had a sensible short haircut, and she washed it and combed it, that’s it.

To me, it makes no sense for schools to hold these events. If people want events like this, families or community groups should organize them privately. I’ve known church groups to hold balls, and community organizations such as the Philippine-American Club. This creates a whole different set of standards for the youth, and keeps the ACLU and grandstanding dingdongs firmly out.

“Itawamba County Agricultural High School”

Not so strange if you know Itawamba County or Mississippi.

The real reason the prom was canceled is, Itawamba is a poor county and can not afford to fight someone as wealthy and powerful as the ACLU. This rural school had another problem back in the winter when a trasfer student from Illinois decided he wanted to be a girl and showed up for class looking like a cheap whore. Another ACLU moment. Think Rural Mississippi and guess the reaction. My guess is the prom will go on but not be sponsored by the school district. A private prom sponsored by some business or group of the normal folks for the normal kids.

Maybe you’re right. The photo doesn’t say anything about the black kids behavior, maybe he gets along by acting white. These girls could just act straight and get male dates to cover their tracks.

The whole problem starts when Jesus cloudied the water with all of that talk about love. Treating others as you would want to be treated or being particularly kind to those who society considers the least of our brothers is a headache. It would have been so much easier if he just made a list of folks we were supposed to hate.

Wait a minute...isn’t she 18? Her date is a sophomore which would maker her say 15 or 16. Hmmm....sounds like statutory rape to me or at least contributing to the deliquency of a minor. This McMullen chick isn’t just a wierdo she’s a criminal! Don’t they have laws in Mississippi? Come on and step up and do the right thing.

Good decision.

Now these two freaks can feel guilty about ruining the entire event for everyone. (though I doubt they will)

Once again, the majority must change for the minority.

She’d have to rent Dom Delouise’s tux.

You lost me. What's wrong with acting black if he's black? What's the problem with this? It's not like he's psychologically demented because of his color.

Who are you?

My kids went to proms outside of school. They were held on private property and almost everything was donated.

My oldest son went alone. My youngest went with a date.

There was a strict dress code for both. Back in those days though, no one wanted to switch clothes.

I went to both to make sure that’s where they were.

To this day they still don’t know that. :)

I don’t understand why this girl wants everything her way ? Why doesn’t she have her own prom ? Why should everyone bow down for her ?

I did forget to mention that. Yes, it’s very poor up there.
You see things that break your heart it’s so poor.

Still, it’s their tradition and I agree, there will be a prom, just not one that’s school sponsored.

I never gave much thought to homosexuality until I found myself in recovery from alcoholism, when I began to see many parallels between the two conditions. One can find well-qualified people to debate either side of whether the deviant, self-destructive behaviors are genetic("nature") or learned ("nurture"), but generally speaking those who find relief, do so by recognizing it as a spiritual matter.

While I personally find homosexual behavior repulsive and abhorrent, I truly pity the person trapped in that lifestyle in a society that increasingly enables and condones a behavior almost certain to bring them misery. The school should no more indulge this lesbian than they should serve cocktails to students who say they're alcoholics.

I’m someone who is reminding you that the foolishness that is being played out here was played out about 40 years ago when people were screaming and yelling about blacks attending schools with white students. The world was coming to an end, it was the end of our nation, society was crumbling.

The majority of these students will go on to colleges where there are gays and lesbians. They will live in communities and work at jobs with gays and lesbians. If this is how the school is preparing them for life, they are not helping them at all.

If these girls showed up to the prom with each other, there may be 20 minutes worth of whispering amongst the few students who did not know about their proclivity. Now its headlines and an end to a trafdition.

Note it was the administration that ended the traditional dance rather then allow the girls to attend, it was not the lesbians demanding the dance be cancelled.

Well, I'd imagine this girl's classmates will ostracize her and express their displeasure for her ruining their prom with her selfish insistence on flaunting her perversion.

Mississippi - not to be confused with Massachusetts - is the #1 Protestant state and #4 in % of Evangelicals (see chart:http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/Statistical_Correlations.html) and voted 80% to ban homosexual marriage.

You're making it sound like there are homosexuals everywhere. If fact, less than 2% of the population is dysfunctional, and that number includes the millions of prison inmates who don't have a choice.
These kids may, or may not, ever come across an active homosexual in their entire lives. The concept that there's a large number of these people is another left wing lie.
Like Hitler, the left is using these problem people to push their own anti-family agenda. Anything that draws people away from traditional family values weakens the fabric of this country, and the left will aggrandize it or fully endorse it.
These dysfunctional homosexuals don't need endorsement. Our founding fathers gave them the death penalty, because they knew they were a danger to society. Later, they were given life imprisonment because their molestations weren't considered "violent." As the years passed, they were put in mental institutions, because no one knew what else to do with them. During the Regan years, money was tight, and the states had to cut back on expenses. The homos were let out, but they were suppose to check back once a week. They escaped into the population, and today we have the North American Man/Boy love association teaching men how to rape small children without getting caught. It appears the founding fathers knew what they were taking about.
