Anti-gay Republican Senator Roy Ashburn -- the man who was arrested last week on a DUI charge after visiting Sacramento gay bar Faces -- confirmed today that he is, in fact, a homosexual.
Sacramento Bee reports that the Senator, who has been on leave since his arrest, told KERN radio host Inga Barks in an interview this morning these simple words: "I'm gay." Ashburn went on to say, "Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long."
Explaining his vile voting record against gay, Ashburn explained that "his votes were a reflection of how the majority of voters in his conservative district would have wanted him to vote." Ashburn's checkered civil rights record includes voting against a Senate resolution declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional, thrice shooting down the creation of Harvey Milk Day, voting against recognizing out of state same-sex marriages, and opposing "an expansion of the state's insurance laws to include sexual orientation as a protected class."

And we care why? Why is this something about which anyone in the known universe who is not Sen. Roy Ashburn care? Why is this news? The pervasive gayness in and of the media is starting to wear on me.
The same stuff went on in Nazi Germany. The big dog gays were sending the little guys to prison camps, and if they didn't come across for the guards, they'd get gassed.
It's how homosexuals play politics, and it doesn't matter if it's just office politics.
Ewwwwww....
Yeah. We could use a few dozen more legislators like him here.
The shocking part isn’t that he’s gay, it’s that he actually votes the way his constituents want him to!
“The same stuff went on in Nazi Germany. “
Boy, did it ever! If you ever stumble across a couple of books, “Male Fantasies” by a guy named Theweleit pick them up. Its a two volume Jungian-type analysis of the FreiKorps and such in pre-war Germany. Talk about some messed up dudes, whew. All kinds of sick sexual psychology, not just the gay stuff. Theweleit says the carnage was exactly what they were after, in fact, what they dreamed of. Amazing how these guys took over a whole country.
parsy, who says for a lot of these guys, a bayonet was not just a bayonet
I dislike the way he misled his family, but given his voting record in line his constituent’s priorities, maybe it is best to let him sort out his personal demons in private.
BTW: it sounds like you have a very loving family, not too dissimilar from Mr. Cheney’s.
He is coming out only because he was arrested last week for driving drunk while leaving a gay bar with a man in his car with him.
He doesn't sound gay to me.
Instead he sounds like a miserable sodomite.
Figured it was to garner sympathy votes from his constituents. He wasn’t gay when he fathered four children, but he’s suddenly gay now? Come on...
So he not gay. He is bi-sexual. That means that he has choice.
He chooses to have sex with men rather then honor his vows to his wife.
If having sex with men was so important to him THEN HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE MARRIED AND HAD KIDS.
There are true homosexuals who are only attracted to their own sex. Mr Ashburn is not one of them. He just wanted to excuse his catting around.
So what? If he hadn't been arrested for DUI then his secret life would have continued. Who cares just as long as this elected official really represents his constituents?
Of all the RINOs in this party who vote against their electorate's wishes, I'll take this guy any time..........
I do take issue with this guy's DUI though.
Well, there’s a strong thread of Homophobia running through both parties. It’s just that Dems don’t generally get outed because they control the media.
Or it’s possible that marriage/children is necessary for a life in public office.
Is this the same “source” that gave us the Palin-canada-healthcare story?
“””””There are true homosexuals who are only attracted to their own sex.””””””””
Its a mental disorder.
I see what you did there.
People who "suddenly" discover that they are gay after years of marriage are liars and just wish to excuse their poor behavior.
We should pass the hat and buy him a collection of Judy Garland albums.
Mostly unless it harms other people we tend to overlook it.
