I can't focus on Obamacare, Iran, Wall Street bailouts, Democrat fiendishness and GOP wussiness 24-7; my brain would simply explode.
So I have other places I like to surf to from time to time. and I'd like to get suggestions from other Freepers.
Please post your favorites...if possible steer clear of hot button issues we see here on FR all the time (gun rights, abortion, immigration etc).
Here are some of my top sites:
Shorpy
If you have even a moderate interest in American history, you'll love this. Historic photos from the Civil War through the 1950's in stunning high resolution.
The Old Car Manual Project
If you are a car buff, and click this link, your productivity for the rest of the day will flatline. Don't say I didn't warn you!
McSweeney's
This is IMO the funniest writing on the internet today. Great parodies, some a little political, but mostly poking fun at 21st century "intellectual" culture.
Lifehacker
You may already know about this one. Great tips on how to optimize your computer, your laundry bin, and your retirement plan. If you want to start going Galt and reduce your Obama economy footprint, there are hundreds of spending-reduction suggestions to be found here.
Wondermark
My favorite webcomic. Mostly just plain funny, but about once a month, he comes through with a strip that really speaks to the Freeper worldview.
bttt
Thanks! Bookmarking that site. :)
I will join up later today when I get home. I have a supercharged ‘73 MGB crammed in my garage somewhere!
For me,I enjoy:
www.jalopnik.com
www.clunkbucket.com
www.hooniverse.com
Well, I used to own a Norton Atlas and a BSA 441, does that count??
EBay and Pogo. Woot!!

Your link to Cake Wrecks seems to have gone bye-bye.
I was hitting snopes.com in the early 90’s. Also, I used to post to a couple of bulletin boards like snpp.com in my pre internet daze. (I no longer watch the simpsons) I used to make travel reservations in sabre before they upgraded their system to only allow travel agents, but my fave travel site was travelweb.com. I love old sites that have been around a long time.
Liberal Internet Gestapo hunters are looking for where people feel safe in order to infiltrate, dominate and subjugate.
I have many different forums I post at, and almost all have some form of troll that uses obvious dialogue to disrupt or to use the forum for liberal propaganda.
Schools and internet is the battlefield.
Oh bummer, that was so funny
I can't double-check my links on this computer because of the firewall.
The first two are self explanatory. Austen.com is a place for really great Jane Austen fan fiction.
The Gutenberg Project has a 100,000+ free eBooks.
Audible has 70K + audio books.
I’ve never been there...I’ll add it to the list.
There are non-political websites? :-)
