'Hurt Locker' producer barred from Oscars

LOS ANGELES - A producer of the war story "The Hurt Locker" will not be allowed to attend Sunday's Academy Awards because of e-mails he sent urging academy members to vote for his movie, Oscar overseers said Tuesday.
But Nicolas Chartier will receive an Oscar at a later date if "The Hurt Locker" wins best picture.
The executive committee of the producers branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences imposed the penalty on Chartier, who violated Oscar rules that prohibit mailings promoting a film and disparaging another. ...

FWIW, the legal scum bag known as Geoffrey Feiger is representing Master Sgt. Jeffrey Sarver in a law suit against the writer, Mark Boal. Sarver claims the movie was based on him but was then portrayed as fiction..........Hmmmmmmm.......
Soldier Sues
Sarver is from nearby Harrison Twp. and I know a number of brothers from that community. Chances are he is probably related to them but I've never met him.

As opposed to those prime examples of realism starring John Wayne?
Thats when the US was pretty much united against cattle rustlers, fascists, commies and bad guys in general. The bad guys wore black hats and were killed, the good guys wore white hats and did the killing.........
Then fascists wore German uniforms and were killed, Americans wore American uniforms and did the killing. Everyone was happy with that.......life was very good back then.
Why do you have a problem with that?
