Admiral Ackbar is causing a serious disturbance in the force at Ole Miss -- where several Rebel fans are threatening to abandon the school if the alien leader becomes the new mascot.
The masterminds behind the Admiral Ackbar mascot campaign tell TMZ they've been contacted by angry students, threatening to transfer if the legendary rebel shot caller is voted to become the new face of Ole Miss.
The group has even received complaints from the parents of current students and prospective students -- with some even threatening to "never send their kids to Ole Miss" if the Admiral wins out.

The best
Granted it's not like the Charlie Connerly or Archie days exactly but it could be worse.
Mississippi is only 2.5 million folks, not much of draw for outsiders and supports 3 national teams....Miss State and Southern Miss
and the SEC is always the toughest schedule
so it's hardly as bleak as you claim
though the political correctness sure is
when I was there in the late 70s the faculty was very conservative and the students were mostly apathetic traditionalists with a handful of libertarian-lefties like me.
Oxford is now very gentrified, a tourist locale of note, the school is very nicely funded by rich alum and is arguably the prettiest college of size in the South and the girls are reknown
all of which has created a destination for older lefties streaming in who now run the town...i mean real lefties...they have a socialist who ran for Congress as a Dem....I used to know him..Ron Shapiro .he was a northern Jewish commie who moved there to open business and chase hippiechick coeds 35 years ago..lol...and smoked my ganji I might add
hard to imagine in rural Miss
anyhow...Ole Miss is lost for now....pretty place...shame
libtards pat themselves on the back for "victories" like banning southern stuff but meanwhile they can't see the path of destruction they've engineered through our culture they so deplore that will be far worse than what they imagined Colonel Reb symbolized
Ole Miss has produced two media folks of note late but their names escape me.
One is a libtard writer who married a hot actress and the other is a prominent homosexual in Hollywood.
maybe it’s the latter
He would be one of the greys.
Anti-Calamarites !
I haven’t had a good laugh like this thread in a while...
Allahfool Ackbar!
BURN THE BEAST!
This thread is hilarious. Thanks for the ping. :^)
All-Law-Who Awk-Bar.
(Ole Miss hasnt won much in the past 30 years and wont be anytime soon)
I forget could you remind me who won the last two Cotton Bowls?
Fifty years from now who will know what an Admiral Ackbar is...but everyone will still know what a snake, bear, pig...anything that really lives...is.
Leave it to those who are part of higher education today, their brains were all messed up in the 60’s and they became professors or college administrators and never lived a real life outside of the college scene and fantasy world.
Well, and I'm just playing Devil's advocate here because I really don't care, but I just think it's a funny story....
Ackbar has been around 33 years, and it could probably be argued that he's even more popular now than he was when he first enter the cultural zeitgeist. The current Rebel mascot hasn't been around for all that long himself, I believe just since 1938. Ackbar makes a little more sense than just another animal because Ackbar was head of the rebel> alliance, just like Colonel Reb was a rebel.
If you're at 'Ole Miss and you still want to be the 'Ole Miss Rebels, your selection of characters is somewhat limited if you're precluded from using someone who NOT from the civil war - it's either going to Che Guevera, Fidel Castro or possibly Osama bin Laden. Let's face it, typically rebels don't have the best reputation.
Maybe they could be the 'Ole Miss Lech Welesas, although it really doesn't roll off the tongue.
