Back in the 50s and 60s, we saw a lot of movies about the government culling the population. Back then it was called “science fiction”. The 50s and 60s have arrived.
Can Soylent Green be far behind
Time to go back to basics. It was not so long ago that families took care of the elderly grandparents/parents.
True Story: I worked with an Irish Catholic woman- married to an Italian.
When the care of her beloved mother was experiencing coordination complications between the nephews, nieces and working grandchildren, I suggested she might find a day-care center or nursing home more convenient.
You would think I had suggested euthanasia!!! I don’t believe I had ever seen her so speechless or horrified.

That is how it is all across Asia. They deride the West for dumping their elderly and take care of their parents in their old age.
They also worship their ancestors as gods as well. One can take a thing too far either way.
That said multi-generational households have great benefits for families. They have in the past. They still do today.
If that is your argument to defend socialism and trash the idea of people taking care of their parents without forcing others to do so, I don’t buy it. Sorry.
...and Logan's Run...
1. How did I defend socialism in any sentence I posted? Prove this.
2. Your conclusion that I support socialism because of my first paragraph is as dumb as if I concluded that because you use the model of Asian taking care of extended family, you’re in favor of us wearing woven hats and eating rice while sitting on floor mats.
3. Did you even read my second paragraph? You know, the one where I say the multi-generational family house has a lot of benefits to it?

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Did you even read my response? I used the word “IF.”
I believe that’s a lame attempt on your part. The way you replied to my post isn’t how someone responds wondering if someone meant something or not. You read my post believing that’s what I meant and responded as such. You didn’t like my first sentence and you thought you’d be clever back and bring socialism into it. No “if” about it.
The problem was with you trashing an idea solely because I pointed out that Asians did not depend on welfare in their old age. I gave it as an example to show that such a system still exists and works. You trashed it and that is sufficient proof to show that it is not ideas that matter to you but who implements such ideas. Despite your second sentence, your first shows your position - European socialists are preferable to you over Asians without socialism solely because they have their own religious ways. If you want to base your positions on the race of people rather than ideas, it is your choice but you should be in the Democrat Party.
Seems the Nazi’s won after all.
My father in law’s brother has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and his blood count is around 85(I don’t know the initials of the test) and he lives in Holland. They pretty much told him to go home and die. My FIL is trying to get him to come here to get treated.
Friend, YOU are the guy who first brought race into this discussion, not me. You could have used a multi-generational household structure from anywhere in the world and I could make the same point, which you missed, and that was:
you can go too far either way. On the one extreme is being so devoted to family you worship your deceased ancestors as God (and as a Christian I have a problem with that) and on the other end of the spectrum is godless socialism that treats people like numbers and looks at life via a cost/benefit ratio to the state - and I have a problem with that as a Christian, too. You totally dismiss the fact I then go on to point out my belief that the multi-generational home has good benefits because you really just want to take my first point out of context and do a Jimmy Carter/Al Sharpton on me. You can go be a racismist somewhere else.
