The Dutch way of Death: Socialized medicine helped turn doctors into killers

Many old people now fear Dutch hospitals. More than 10% of senior citizens who responded to a recent survey, which did not mention euthanasia, volunteered that they feared being killed by their doctors without their consent. One senior-citizen group printed up wallet cards that tell doctors that the cardholder opposes euthanasia.

The path to the death culture began when doctors learned to think like accountants. As the cost of socialized medicine in the Netherlands grew, doctors were lectured about the importance of keeping expenses down. In many hospitals, signs were posted indicating how much old-age treatments cost taxpayers.

I have no problem with any practice of OTHERS. Each person is free to do what he or she pleases.

As for one's religious position, you can be a socialist atheist, a capitalist atheist (Ayn Rand), a socialist and religious person (Michael Moore) or a capitalist and a religious person. There are also atheists who are religious (Buddhists). Let us not mix up religious beliefs and economic positions.

He would be better off coming to the US. The Dutch will kill him. He should also get a card on his wallet that states he is against Euthanasia.

I suspect there will be generational conflict when the young no longer wish to absorb the expenses.

Because there is no longer respect for the elderly, who are rarely seen in public, and no personal honor or self-respect, from the pagan point of view. Christians should should treat their parents the way they would treat Jesus if He had aged. I am horrified by this article and it was first written in 2001.

agree with you that there is no longer any respect for the elderly in our society. i remember that in france over 15,000 elderly people died in the heat one summer while the young people were vacationing. they couldn’t be bothered to take care of their parents. sad.

if anyones being "culled" its the young...the same people that receive SS and Medicare now probably were the same ones sitting passively by while abortion was made the nightmare that it is...

now that the subject of limiting medical care for the elderly comes around, suddenly so many people are right to lifers.......
