RATHER HAVE MY CHILD DIE THAN USE A GUN?
If you were having trouble understanding anti-gun people, this will not help. A high school math teacher named Doug Van Gorder wrote a letter to the Boston Globe decrying the idea of having self-defense guns in schools. In part of his letter, he shows what can surely be described as one of the most telling views into the minds of gun banners. "But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime."
So, he views the use of a gun for self defense as a crime, and he would rather have his child die than see a good person (assuming this applies to the police, also) use a gun to save a life.
I simply have nothing to add to that.
Toward FREEDOM!
As if anyone needed proof that Liberals like kids and babies dying.
Sounds like evolution to me.
UN-fracking-REAL!
Toward FREEDOM!
Now that is one sick puppy right there.
“As a progressive” means that this failed individual’s political identity is more important to him than his fatherhood. When that moral exchange is made the individual making it is dead.
I’d sooner live with the guilt of killing a man then let an innocent person die.
These are the same kind of people who thinks its okay for Kevin Jennings to mind molest their kids in kindergarten
He may be quoted as saying that, but I’d bet that he’d do whatever it takes to save his kid, if such a situation arose.
Undoubtedly one who sits down to pee.
Hi Neil, hope all is well with you.
Where the hell is Darwin when you need him?AWB
Insane! That being said I would rather lose a child than to have a child abducted. If my child died I know they are in a better place. I couldn’t imagine the horror of the other.
Of course, the best humor has a great deal of truth in it. Just do a google search on the author, and you will see that it is satire.
This is sick. Well, making your family a prime target for crime doesn’t seem to matter either.
The guy would not think that if he were in a real life situation rather than sitting there armchair quarterbacking so arrogantly.
Notice he didn’t say “He’d rather be put in the ground rather than use a gun”, he says “his kid”. Wonder if it’s okay for him to defend his own life with a gun. Probably not according to him, but I just don’t believe that. Everyone has a survival instinct and they’ll eventually fight back if pushed hard enough. Even prey animals will do that when they feel they have no other alternatives.
So he has no moral obligation to protect weaker people either then. No moral obligation to protect his kid from people who want to kill his kid. I guess then we can get rid of all the laws that punish such folks. If there’s no moral obligation, there’s no reason to punish people for doing it.
Boy they are stupid people. Backed into a very tight and uncomfortable ideological corner, smushed in on themselves.
What’s scary is that this guy is in a position to influence thousands of little heads full of mush making ANOTHER Obama — or worse — inevitable.
I wonder if this was the thought process that led all those Jews and others into Hitler’s, Stalin’s, Mao’s and Pol Pot’s slaughter houses?
Well you just never know with liberals. I don’t feel stupid for falling for it. I could imagine a liberal saying this.
“”But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime.””
Finally, I understand what they are progressing toward... INSANITY!!
How could we possibly trust these people to defend our country if they refuse to defend their kids.
So he won’t defend his child’s life - I wonder if anyone asked him if he would defend his own life!
Urban peasant.
