In a town near here there was a gas explosion that leveled a house last month while the owner was at work. Her kitty, which was, initially, thought to have perished, was spotted and rescued a few days later showing only singed whiskers as a sign of its ordeal.

My grand dad told me a story once about his father (my great grandfather) when he was a boy. My great grandfather had a dog growing up that got into the family’s chicken coop and had himself a nice meal. My great-great grandfather found out and told my great grand father he had to put the dog down. He couldn’t bring himself to shoot the dog he had loved for so long and he suddenly remembered there was a little TNT left over in the barn out back. Long story short, he ties the TNT to the dog, lights the fuse, runs away and the dog chases after him thinking he’s being playful. My great grandfather gets almost inside when the TNT goes off. The dog made it all the way to the steps of the front porch and now the front of the house is covered with Fido’s remains.
I’m not sure that’s exactly a true story, but I thought it was worth sharing.
I might say that they were lucky as well for not being in the house when the explosion occurred. Unless them being home may have prevented the leak because they would have been there to smell a gas leak.
Oh, I have SUCH a crush on black Labs... What a sweet doggie. (((((Greta)))))
