Is there any way to download a video file from YouTube(Vanity)?

A manager at work wants me to download a YouTube file for them to save and embed in a presentation they're giving.
Such things are a bit above my pay grade, technically speaking. Does anyone here know how to do that without purchasing software or logging on to some dubious third party site?
Thanks so much.

Find the video you want. Then put “kiss” in front of “youtube” in the address at the top, and press enter. That will take you to a page that has an option to download it as a .FLV file. There are some freeware tools to convert from .FLV to .MP4 or .WMV.

Thanks; I did that, but got sites that made me complete a “survey” and sign up for some kind of membership before they would produce the file. Other suggested sites were blocked by our company firewall.

I’ve had a fair amount of success with www.savetube.com.

There is a free download "FLV recorder".
Been using it for quite a while now and no problems.

I've tried several schemes and by far the best, if you are using Firefox, is the Firefox Video DownloadHelper. It works like a champ.

Careful of copyright issues. You could end up in hot water, especially if this presentation is intended for viewing outside your organization.

there are several free or inexpensive software programs to do this.
youtubedownloader is a free one.
Google them.

Firefox has an add-on, and even I figured out how to do it.
