Stress claim denied for Conn. cop who shot chimp

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- A Connecticut police officer who shot and killed a chimpanzee last year after it mauled a woman has been denied a claim for workers' compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder because state law only applies to police shootings of people.

The State denied him a disability because he shot the chimp.I would have thought he would have claimed a disability because of the psycological trauma of seeing the womans face destroyed by that same chimpanzee.

The Trauma to me would be incredible.

By that rationale, every officer who has to shoot an animal that has mauled/bitten/killed a human should also get 90% salary disability for the rest of their life?

Sign me up for that gig.

It’s amazing how high they can jump from the water. They don’t need much of a run either, they just sweep that big tail.
