NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -- A Connecticut police officer who shot and killed a chimpanzee last year after it mauled a woman has been denied a claim for workers' compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder because state law only applies to police shootings of people.

Lemmie guess - 90% tax free disability for life...

That's pretty much the way it works in Massachusetts...at least for cops and firemen. The Boston Fire Dept is under investigation by the Feds for pension irregularities...one of which is that something like 75% of all members of the force retire with a disability pension.

My hunch is that Connecticut is pretty much the same and I'll wager that if this cop appeals he'll get his disability checks.

Seems to me the strongest claim for PTSD here would be based on seeing the woman with her face and part of her hands ripped/bitten off.

He should get that pension.

That was no ordinary chimp. With a couple of extra Affirmative Action points, he had just passed the Stamford Police Department Test.

Of course, that was before he went bananas.

Wow, these really know how to milk the public employee disability system. Luckily for the tax payers he failed this time.

A big scam in NYC is for public union employees to cover a shift for their supervisor and if they get injured during that shift, the get to collect tax free disability at the supervisor salary rate.

“Frank Chiafari”

What an outrage. Some police forces are so crooked. He shot a damn monkey and wants to milk the taxpayers dry!

I don’t know, watching a chimp eat the face off a woman seems like a logical reason for PTSD. Would be for me anyway.

Are you even aware of the circumstances here? This isn’t your normal, run of the mill chimp shootings.

That photograph looks like the woman has one eye but I thought both of her eyes were ripped out.

It’s just a cavity. There is no eye there.
