While watching DW TV last night, the report that China is importing luxury items from around the world, had me overly concerned. How many products is China importing from us, the U.S., currently? Are well selling them "top of the line", "high value / quality" products? (Things with which we are proud we make; that are also extremely profitable.) Do we have the ability to compete in the global market? We lost a significant portion of our labor market when companies cut expenses by moving assets and interests outside the country. Now, with our dollar devalued so heavily; it is costing more to manufacture out of the country but the labor market has yet to find its way back to the mainland. Both labor and consumer are to blame, since each want something as CHEAPLY as we can get it; but corporate greed made this blaming game palpably tenable for them as they take their winnings from both the supply and the demand side of the equations.

I wasn’t aware that we were exporting much of anything, especially to China. And what was it Obama said....that part of our recovery would include a plan to triple the number of exports....yeah....and he never said what those exports are or how they can be made cheaper than in China.

Uh, I kinda thought that was the point of capitalistic efficiency. But maybe that's just me.
Communist Chinese shouldn't be importing luxuries anyway. They should be content to sit there reading their little red books.
