Would a forum to invite newbies to ask questions help increase participation?
You raise a very good point regarding momentum and I agree it would be foolish to ignore the situation, but I think the conservative movement would be better served by informing the masses as opposed to swelling our numbers.
“Our” numbers (i.e. conservatives for small govt, low taxes, political accountability) are going to grow (and be sustained) only by people becoming knowledgeable and familiar with the Constitution and our nation’s history as well as being aware of current political events.
And in that regard, FR offers an invaluable service.
(And on a lighter note, 51% of the vote is not adequate. It has to be large enough so they can’t cheat.)
That said, welcome to Free Republic and I hope to see you around for a long time.

I have been AMAZED at Glenn Beck teaching history in 2010 & getting great ratings. It boggles the mind. And so... it makes me wonder... maybe more things are possible than I thought!
To celebrate Himself’s one week “anniversary”, I bought him an antique scythe at a flea market.
[at least the grim aspect of my sense of humor has remained intact]
Welcome to FR!
The most important tip I can offer you: It’s never too soon for an opus.
