Maybe you watch too much TV and don’t get out of New York enough. Try visiting Alabama, Texas, Indiana, and Florida, and then check polling in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

She is in a better position now than Reagan was in 1878.

You are not offering anything but opinion, prejudice, and negativity. I’M sure you would have jumped right on the Bush bandwagon when he defeated Reagan in the Iowa Caucus but it is smarter politically to stay with the conservative.

It is better to lose with a Goldwater than it is to win with a Nixon. It is still much better to win with a Reagan than lose with a Dole. Palin will win and win big.

Capt, I think you are being silly if you think Alaskan speech mannerisms will affect the election any more than Chicago or Arizona or Texas or . . .

What do you think the Dems will do with that. The elites on both coasts will run wild with it. Electtions are won with PR, not ideologies.

He always reminded me of Wally George, a caricature of a conservative.

And corrupt politicans (GOP included) are scared to death of her.

She is for smaller government. There’s a lot of blue blood GOPs the Hill that think bigger is better.

The Jaba-the-Hut politicians in Alaska are steel reeling.

Wonder how many come here?

I think it has less to do with her being Christian per se, than it does about her specific Christian belief that makes her pro-Life.

I think that everyone knows she’s not faking anything . . . and that scares a lot of people.

And we should listen to Savage why?

He’s the radio equivalent of a Moby-troll.

A phony out there to make us look bad.A big part of his shtick is name calling of the other conservatives out there, then he whined and complained when they didn’t come to his aid on the UK blacklist thing. Sorry, there, ace, but badmouthing others has its consequences.

I was very happy on the day they took him off of the main talk station here locally.

If God decides that he want her to be President then she will be President!

That the thing you anti Palin can't get.

The woman is a woman of God. I rather be on God side then yours. Yes, I think Sarah is Godly like Washington. Something lacking in most so called leaders

No, I’m saying the conversations you “heard” (from which I conclude you “overheard”) were liberal democrats and would find something wrong with any republican. The conservative Jews I know voted for the McCain/Palin ticket.

BTW - I noticed that in all these “conversations” you were never speaking to the JOOZ yourself. Don’t have any Jewish friends?

Thanks for reinforcing my opinion (an opinion derived from hundreds if not thousands of inferences and coded phrases from Palin advocates on FR) that their support for her and desire for her to become the POTUS is based more on it being a evangelical/end times religious movement/crusade/jihad than political ideology.

Palin isn’t saying or doing anything more than dozens or hundreds of other conservatives, republicans or politicians, she just wears her religion on her sleeve and that’s why she is attractive to you.

BTW - That will be her and your downfall.

There I said it, the elephant hiding in the living room is now out in the open. Now maybe we can have a real conversation about why people are so mesmerized by an obviously flawed and insufficient political personality.

Incorrect all around and insulting to boot. Answer the question I asked instead of ad hominem:

So the Jewish vote, which was apparently in play, briefly, for McCain against Obama, was not affected negatively by Sarah Palin’s outspoken Christianity? I don’t think you can give me a straight-faced “no” to that question.

Yeah, I guess “(politically) conservative Jew” sounds something like “logical liberal” - in other words extraordianrily rare.

As to your question: “Do you think the majority of the religious Jews will be Palin supporters?”

First of all, Orthodox Jews have been voting Republican in Presidential elections since Reagan. This trend intensified with the disgusting nature of Clinton’s presidency. The growing identification of the left with anti-Israel policies and groups is also driving this trend. So, it is virtually a given that they will vote by a large percentage in favor of the Republican candidate.

Second, if the nominee is Sarah Palin, it would only reinforce the Orthodox inclination because she represents the decency of a good religious family woman and the favorable attitude towards Israel that we appreciate.

I don’t see anti-Christian prejudice around here. In many another thread, I have argued firmly for the great differences between Judaism and Christianity, but on many more threads, I have expressed my solidarity and respect for religious Christians, who are presumably living their lives according to the ethics and principals of the faith. Given the long view of the relationship between the Church and the Jewish people, it is indeed one of the delicious ironies of history that, at this time, we have found common cause and a common worldview as we witness the world collapsing into a seething pit of moral sewage.

I'm glad to hear that. The Boca Jewish community is very (VERY) secular at least among my friends and acquaintances so I didn't have any read on the reaction to Palin among religious Jews. I was surprised at the gullibility around me -- if NPR reported something in a slanted tone or an e-mail was received with some biased "facts" the reaction was as if Palin would be leading torch wielding mobs in pogroms rather than supporting Israel and supporting the freedom of Americans to practice the religion of our choice.

You may have heard it already on this thread or elsewhere, so please forgive me if it’s redundant: Secular or otherwise non-religious Jews are fervent devotees of their new religion: Liberalism. Their real hostility here has nothing to do with Palin’s Christianity, but with her conservatism. A person of such sincere devotion to conservative ideas is the devil incarnate in the Church of Liberalism. Add to that the inbred elitism among liberals and their hatred is leveaned with contempt and condescension.

Has he decided yet?

You know that God isn't a US citizen and he/she can't vote in our elections? Are you maybe suggesting that God may manipulate voting totals?

The divide is not so great and we do have common cause. Freedom to raise our children as we see fit. Freedom to practice our faith as we see fit. How about just freedom “.” I guess the common cause is ironic but the whole liberal world of special interests unite against us . . . we had better do the same.

Usually, I’d agree 100% with that. But I’ve heard apparently apolitical housewives bashing Palin with “I heard she wants to convert all the Jews” and that sort of thing. It was kind of wierd.

I understand the “Liberalism as religion” reality. They’ve got a heaven on earth to create and you and I are in the way. No God needed . . . we just need more government programs.
