I’m with you. I thought most of the ads were dumb. The ones that showed people without clothes were disgusting and showed how our culture has been denigrated by progressives.

doing odd things to get beer?

hmmmm, I missed that one.

In fact, I missed almost all of them as I was watching and posting away on the SB thread ‘til I hit the beer wall.

I was sick & tired of the Dennys “Screaming Chickens” ads after seeing 4-5 of them.

The top commercial for Doritos was the dog anti-bark collar one. The guy who produced it won a cash prize from them and was hosted at a suite in the stadium. He is just a young college age kid with aspirations of becoming a producer. He said he and approx. 11 friends made the commercial on a budget between $200 and $400..........

Pretty cool.......

The only good commercials were the Tebow, Doritos dog collar, house made from Bud Light, Clydesdales and Screaming Chicken.

The rest were either men-as-wimps, boring, or pointless (animals freeze reacting to Car ads?, Danica Patrick doing 1/4 of a commercial for a commercial?)

Worst Superbowl ads since the height of the dot com boom.

Most of the Ads were dumb and a couple made no sense what so ever. Couldn’t figure what they were selling.

You are not old, just perceptive.

Overall my husband and I thought it was the worst crop of Super Bowl ads we've seen in YEARS. We must be officially "over the hill" as well, or else Madison Avenue saved tons of $$$$ by hiring bottom-of-the-barrel ad writers this year...

We liked the Tim Tebow ad, the Audi "Green Police" ad (found it funny and disturbing, though), the one Doritos ad with the little kid telling the boyfriend: "Keep your hands off my momma, and keep your hands off my Doritos!". We always love the e-Trade baby ads. I also thought the Budweiser Clydesdale horse ad with the steer was "cute", but not overly memorable.

I only saw a few ads, but I think I know what you’re talking abuout anyway.

Who wouldn’t?

Is there really any other kind of ad today? Aren’t all white males (and even black ones too sometimes) just a bunch foolish goobers? Isn’t it always the wife / girlfriend, or even the children who know everything?

There’s a pretty serious message about society in there.

To wit: men are fools who are only useful for income and distasteful chores.

The only one I like was the Snickers commercial with Betty White and Abe Vigoda playing football.

Even the E-trade commercials, which are usually the best, fell flat. All in all, bad crop all around.

I only watched the last half of the Superbowl, but just within that space I noticed that there were a few ads with the theme of the spineless wimp guy who lets his woman run his life. One was advertising a car, another a portable TV, and another whose product I can’t remember. The really sad part is that there is a lot of truth to that theme, from what I’ve seen. I wonder how many guys will (correctly) see themselves in those commercials?

I like a good brew sometimes myself, but there’s an unpleasant point about much of alcohol advertising. The biggest market for alcohol is with alcoholics. If you can get alcoholics to prefer your brand, you will do well.

Thus, it makes sense to make ads to appeal to alcoholics. Alcoholics will do almost anything to get another drink. The images of people letting trucks drive over them or whatever are intended to get a sympathetic response from alocholics.

You my friend, are not alone. The only 2 comme3rcials that I thought were even mildly amusing were the Doritos commercial with the little boy and his mother’s date and the Betty White commercial. The rest were either over my head or too stupid to mention.

There was that big hoopla about some gay dating site wanting to run an ad, but after watching the Careerbuilder ad with people in their underwear and the Dockers ad with men singing about not wearing pants, I have to wonder just how much worse the dating site ad could have been?

I had the same reaction. There were ads I have no idea why they were on. Between the inane adverstisements and the football game that looked like a basketball game I was extremely happy when Peyton threw the interception so I could go to bed. The whole thing annoyed the hell out of me and I’m a guy that loves football. The combo of inanity of ads and the throwing show was tedious. Next time lets get two football teams to play the super bowl.

The Letterman show ad with him, Oprah, and Leno was pretty good. And I did like the one with Brett Farve as the 2020 Superbowl MVP wondering if it was time to retire.

Outside of the Tim Tebow ad (along with his mother), I agree totally with you. In fact I hit the mute key for the pregame show, the warbling talentless fat ass queen latifa (WTH is with her fat face on SuperBowl), most of the commercials, the half-time other than to see the WHO....(geez, I remember watching them on Woodstock movie when I was 15 yrs old....did those guys look old or not?), and especially the nauseating post-game wrap up. The game itself was average ok.

And as you indicated, a bunch of stupid, dumbed down, idiotic, commercials....and someone is paying advertising agencies millions of dollars for this inane, nonsensical crap?

I remember a beginning scene from City Slickers when Billy Cyrstal's radio station manager rebuked Billy for some stupid commercial by saying "It's stupid & it makes people want to turn the radio off.....my god, we used to laugh at crap like that".

That's how I felt about the few commercials that I did see (other than Tim Tebow's commercial that was positive & refreshing).

The Letterman ad was hillarious. Best of the bunch by a longshot.
The Tebow ad was brilliant, but would have been pointless without the publicity.

The rest were garbage. I was hoping for better from the “E-Trade” baby. Good thing the football game was entertaining. :)

It is astonishing that the best ad for SB44 - in the year 2010 for gosh sakes - starred Betty White.
