Pinball Wizard? Seriously?

Posted on 02/07/2010 5:13:14 PM PST by Minn

I'm trying to understand what it says about the state of American music and culture that, in every Super Bowl half time show since the wardrobe malfunction, a song less than 30 years old hasn't been sung.

I have plenty of fond memories of the Stones, Bruce, and to a far lesser extent, the Who. But what will the NFL do when all these guys are dead?

I’m over 45.

It was abysmal. I’m sorry I watched.

For those who didn't like the WHO. Please list which band you would have liked.

It’s nostalgia...

Not for me. I didn't even like the Who when I was young and I particularly did not care for Pinball Wizard.

I was more of a Pink Floyd and Blue Oyster Cult fan.

“They have to find an act that won’t offend anyone.”

Well at least they didn’t have a wardrobe malfunction unless
one of them filled their pants. ;-)

Exactly! I would have switched the channel had they even HAD some act who’s ‘hot’ today.

Not gonna sit through stupid rap and crap. Had enough of that just prior to the game. Kept having to change the channel to see if it was over.

THAT stuff is annoying.

Hey! I loved it! Sure, they needed oxygen after the show....lol but I still love those songs. You just can’t find better music than 60’s music!

Pete and Roger were ok. It was the typical live show for this band. Any of you all ever seen Woodstock? They were not too good there either. For any band live in that situation to sound like their records is asking for a lot.

The argument about their age? Hell, If Frank Sinatra was alive I'd like him at halftime. I think Roger and Pete deserved it and did as well as I expected.

They’re legends..Did you hear Frank Sinatra in his later years...he sucked..but it didn’t matter..he was singing those songs and it was FRANK SINATRA. It’s the same thing with these bands...Rolling stones, WHO...THEY ARE LEGENDS...and if you don’t realize this, then you just weren’t from that generation and you’re not going to like anything.

They were really great ... listening to them while jazzed up on a bunch of JD at least. My gf and I were rockin’ out....

With the rest of the gang at the rest home? ;-)

Saw the “Tommy” show at the LA Coliseum in 89’.In the top 5 of concerts I've seen. They even lit the torch at the end of the show !

Thank you..I just said the same thing to someone else about Sinatra. Did you ever hear Sinatra in his later years? He was terrible...but people still paid to hear him...HE WAS SINATRA...and the WHO is in that league for their generation.

I guess that is why their songs are the ongtracks for so many commercials, movies, and television theme songs.

Everyone is stupid I guess/sarc
